What job did you really want to do ?
I would have loved to have been an airline pilot, I know it isn't as glamorous as people think, or it once was but still I would have loved to have done it, A 747 Captain, aged 34 in 1971 would have been about right for me.
Computer databases are alright for earning money but if I crash something I want the NTSB involved

Special Forces (preferably SBS) soldier.
Got a tiny way there (took and passed the Royal Marines POC and AIB) but met my wife to be and decided I could make loadsamoney. Which I did - for about one year!

FireFighter. Very nearly got in full time in 2005 but didn't quite make it. Passed all the tests to be retained shortly afterwards but my employer wouldn't release me during working hours
Still want to do it but the entry tests are getting harder and harder !

Right from a young kid being a racing driver, not F1 but touring cars and rallying because the cars looked like normal road cars with body kits on. Never thought about the fame or money just driving really fast every day cars as fast as you could around a race track or course. Other job that I thought was about as cool as you could get was being in the special forces hunting terrorists mainly due to watching the Iranian Embassy storming and Who Dares Wins with Lewis Collins

Police, but due to a disability I couldn't pass
Disability gone now, but too late
Couldn't be a Firefighter, I have mates who are Firefighters - sitting around all day playing pool and Xbox doesn't really appeal to me, novelty would wear thin pretty quick.

Oh no looking at fannies with fungus all day!! Double
I wanted to be a politician, loads of money, doing nothing to earn it and kinky sex
Na I lie I wanted to be a cop,Which has all of the above whilst being hated by everyone in the neighbourhood, plus you can batter innocents for no good reason
Seriously though I wanted to be a VET
