ok, following on from the other MTB thread, just wondering what we're all riding here and who has the most expensive bike...so post up your bikes.
I'm on a 2004 Kona Explosif, no pics yet, caked in mud from yesterday and needs a clean before I get the camera out. Added Shimano disc brakes to it and some new bars and tyres. Good solid, dependable bike.
The reason for the 'whos spent the most on their bike' being I was looking over the specialized site at the new Epic Epic / Era
Looks pretty tasty, no prices so Googled it ....£4600!! If only I had that spare. Has anyone spent anywhere near this on an MTB?
Thinking of going full sus next year with this 08 Cannondale Rize 5

When not in the scoob, I cruise round on this piece of amazing engineering,
it's a joy to ride and have even had some people coming over and asking me where I got it and such.

Super awesome

I probably do, or did as the frame is now bust, it's a tomac revolver with pretty mch everything i could buy thrown on it, full xtr, formula oro puro brakes, thomson elite seatpost, you name it it's probably got it.
Way over the 4k mark but what a steed it is, hopefully when things improve i'll grab me a titus racer x frame.![Notworthy](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/notworthy.gif)

Neil - that new Epic is my dream bike.
Really like Specialized bikes - have a 1997 Stumpjumper, a 2007 Stumpjumper Comp and a 2008 Rockhopper Disk (plus an old British Eagle!) - all are great.
The Stumpjumper has just has about £300 spent on it and literally just got it back (20 mins ago)- check the shiney new cassette and chainset!
Bike £1200, £400 spent so far, other Stumpjumper cost me £800 in 1997, £250 spent on it, Rockhopper was £600 (very little spent on it - it's wife's bike really) - pricey old sport!
Terrible pic though - I'm hopeless with camera flashes!

Not really, rock shok reba's have stolen the floats thunder, they do the same job for much less, great forks to boot.
I do however have a pushed fox rp23 on the rear, custom tuned to the type of riding you do, costs a bit more but god so worth it.

We were limited to £1000 RRP through the scheme.. which was probably a good thing for my bank balance![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
RockShox Tora 302 Air Front Shock
Fox Float R Rear Shock
Avid Juicy 3 Brakes

Hardtail:

Full suss (after a soul destroying night lap at Mountain Mayhem this year):
![](http://images.cxi.org.uk/mtb/tranceMMs.jpg)
I've got new forks ready for the Trance, just need to sort out some new wheels next.
The "must-finish-singlespeeding-it" old bike:

Currently building something new in the garage as well...

Got a Marin Mount Vision, MY00, paid £1600 for the time which I thought was a lot though compared to some of the mountain bikes available now it seems quite cheap
No pictures of the actual bike at the moment but it looks like this:

I was thinking of starting a thread like this. You beat me to it.
We'll start with my oldest:
Cannondale M600
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/PG_999/dale01.jpg)
Seldom used tbh but I've recently got myself a trailer for it so will use it for shopping runs etc.
Last years bike:
Specialized Stumpjumper FSR
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/PG_999/stumpy.jpg)
Did a fair few thousand miles on that (that didn't include any commuting) last year. So much so it let me justify my next bike.....
The new one:
Bionicon Golden Willow
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/PG_999/willow01.jpg)
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/PG_999/willow02.jpg)
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/PG_999/willow03.jpg)
The adjustable geometry is a joy to use, it's like having another gear.
For the good days on the road I have this:
Ribble Scandium.
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/PG_999/Singletrack%20stuff/ribble1.jpg)
And for the not so good days I have a Specialized Allez that I can't seem to find a pic of
None of my bikes exceed the £2k mark as, at the moment I don't think the level of riding I do justifies anything more given what can be had for your £ now.
Paul.

PG, loving the old school Cannondale and Pace set up as well as the Bionicon. I've never heard of them before (been out of the scene for a while now) but after seeing the Edison Ltd, my word...... <cue-dribbling>

I am going to get another on cycle to work when I have paid for my Hybrid, I cant remember if its 18 months or longer, basically I will treat it like a mobile phone and get a new one every time.
Quite enjoyed my 14 miles of ice today, glad I swapped to some more suitable tyres, 28 mm Conti slick isn't much good off road or on ice, got some Michelin Trail tyres, slower on the road, marginally, but superb off it, way comfier, was flying off road tonight, the way ahead lit by a Hope Vision 2 and two Tesco 3w Led torches.
I suspect there are some bike owners who like the gear, the magazines, the research but not the actual cycling
say J4CKO from smug, daily commute moral high ground.

I used to do the 25 mile round trip commute but then got punted to a different station that is marginally further however the road is a racetrack with loads of blind corners. I do it to get fit not get killed.
