Stayed in the Reading one on Sunday night and was pretty impressed.
Very "urban" but well kitted out, good staff and nice food.
Plus they provided us with a cot for the baby and a bed and bowl for our dog - great service!
Not too pricey either.

Yes they are very good, at one point i'd stayed in them all but they keep opening new ones ![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
The Oxford one is the best. It's the old prison where Bad Girls was filmed and the rooms are the old cells![Cool](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/cool.gif)
I like how they all make use of old buildings but manage to retain the buildings unique character as well in most cases.

Indeed - the Reading one has a very strong steam railway theme and is based in some ex rail building of some sort.
Might check the Oxford one out if we're up that way.
Linked to the Hotel du Vin chain I think - also very good.
We have paid a lot more for a lot less in the past.

I might have to check out the Reading one then, i love Railways ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Not sure what i'd do in Reading though, it's only down the road from here, lol.
I don't think there is a better chain for the price in this country.
I do laugh at people who pay £150 a night for a tatty Hilton or Holiday Inn and think that they are stating somewhere good and living the high-life though just because of the name

Blimey Nat, with that last sentance you're turning in to Matt! He "laughs" at people who drive poverty spec BMW 318s and makes all sorts of bizzare assumptions on their social status and financial standing.

Exactly - the best hotels I have stayed in have all been pretty laid back. Some of the worst have been very snotty.
Was quite impressed with Reading really - not planning to move there but it has some nice bits (did some exploring with the dog and bro in law lives in Caversham).
You could always just eat there - food was excellent as was the wine.

Yeah the Mal Brasseries are all excellent. The late lunchtime room service breakfasts are ace too and they nearly always give you a late 3pm checkout if you want to be a slob or didn't get back to the hotel to bed until 9am ![Lol1](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/lol1.gif)
Dave, I was driving a new base-spec debadged (by myself
) 320 last year, it was pretty hard to deal with, my head nearly exploded thinking about all the contradictions and statements i was making being seen in it

Well I like em and I've never set foot in one!
Last week I was walking past the Manchester one on my way to a club to see Man Raze. They're the rather excellent side project of Phil Collen of Def Leppard and Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols.
Just as I was thinking what a nice looking place it was Phil walked out of the hotel.
We got chatting on the way to the gig and have to say how suprised how down to earth and normal he was. I've been a big fan for twenty years so it was very![Cool](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/cool.gif)
