Default London Congestion Theft

It was my misfortune to have to drive through London today. I'm pretty sure I didn't go through any congestion charge areas, just down the one road through the middle shown in white, Park Lane and over Vauxhall. However, there were some white "C" on the road rather than the usual red ones. Is there any way to check if you have been picked other than to wait for the £120 penalty notice to land on you door mat?

It really bugs me that you can't check to see if you have been picked up on the cameras. I've paid the £8 fine, but suspect I didn't have to.

I once forgot when you had had to pay the charge on the same day, called them up the next day and they wouldn't do anything to help money grabbing tossers.
Got the "penalty" in and then promptly forgot to pay that so got a doubled one, ended up a very expensive trip to the shops for my MIL.

If you stuck rigidly to the cross town route you will be fine. I've used it before without a problem.

Can you pay, then get your money back if they have no record of your car entering the zone?

One has to remember that this sort of thing is nothing to do with helping the public-just making money!
