Default Foucault's Pendulum - Eco

Anyone read this book?
I just didn't get on with it at all.
God knows how many hours I wasted on it.
Leading me to the conclusion that either
The book is ****
The translation is ****
Or (likely) I am thick.

I read it years ago.

Don't remember any more than that.

I think that says it all.

It is not a book to be read. It is more like a bad episode of QI mixed with University Challenge (the Bamber Gascoigne ones where he asked the actually challenging intellectual questions and not the current pop quiz one with Paxo).

Years ago I read Umberto Eco's tome straight after Salman Rushdie's Satanic Verses.

Don't remember either of them now.

Probably wasn't getting any at that time either.

It's a great book, if a little slow to get going. Sorry, but it's you.

You need to read it while having easy access to Google for all the stuff you don't understand. (unless you have want to take Dan Brown's interpretation of history as fact)
