I think i've blown a brain fuse
Awww man, last week or two had this horrid buzzing in my head and in my ears. Just does not stop. Ggggrrr. It's not like Tinnitus, different to that. Sometimes stops for a bit when i bang my head on a desk or wall but not for long Can't seem to see properly either, everythinng is fuzzy and everytime i get up i'm all dizzy.
I reckon i need a new 13A up there somewhere.
WELL annoying. Anyone had similar and know what makes it stop? Guess i've got a bug or virus or something.

I get a 50hz hum in my head, bit like a mains transformer or an old fluorescent light ballast.
Only happens every now and again...usually when I'm trying to sleep. Every time I moved it stopped, but soon as laid still for a few seconds it would come back.
Drove me mad I originally thought it was something in the house, so I went round turning everything plugged in off (at 3:00AM), to the point I ended up going into the garage and flicking off the main switch on the fusebox....it still did it! I concluded it was either my head or somehow something was resonating from the house next door (detached house) under the ground, up the foundations, up the walls, into the joists, into the bed frame and then into my head!
I went like this for six month, until it finally happened whilst staying away at someone else's house, so I can conclude it me; either I can hear the Hz resonance of mains transformers plugged in from 300metres away or the noise is emanating from my head.
My left ear sometimes (usually after a cold/sinus problem) makes a regular popping sound when I hear running water; very annoying when I'm unrinating.

No but do see a doc - the worrying thing is the blurred vision
Uncle's demise was a long while ago now but very sad - he was early 50s and left three sons without a dad
Ali - can you honestly count 50 times a second?!

Otosclerosis and Cochlear Hydrops is one that pops up on my web trawls: Otosclerosis and: Meniere's Disease Information Center -- Symptoms of Meniere's Disease
But I don't get dizzy, and it doesn't define tinnitus as the low pitch hum.
I found this thread was interesting, which doesn't really help, but it means I'm not alone : Hum in the head - Page 2 - HealthBoards.com Message Boards
(I think its Labour's mind scanning satellite making sure I don't commit thought crime ).

Mate of a mate died couple years ago 6 months after it was discoverd he had an inoperable tumor . Apparently no signs before of any problems - that afternoon driving his cab he suddenly felt dizzy/unwell so he rang the guy who owned the cab- who took him to hospital . He also lost control of his bodily functions. poor ******* (53) -he did smoke, dont know if this contributed-
It does make me think whenever i have an unexplained temporal twinge.

dpb - can't remember the exact details but they reckon it could have been sorted had they spotted it earlier.
Know a 27 year old - super fit guy who dropped dead one night from an undiagnosed heart problem.
Sometimes your time is up and you can't do anything about it.
However I still think Nat should see a Doctor!

Arrgh: I just did a google and found this: Can You Hear the Hum?
It has a sample sound file I played http://media.libsyn.com/media/skepto..._Recording.mp3 ...Couldn't bear it, I had to switch it off straight away; thats how neurotic I am about it.

My mum died suddenly from a cerebral aneurysm/haemorrhage many years ago at 47 years old (smoked). If detected early, these can be fixed.
Other unpleasant possibilities exist, such as MS, which most usually presents with blurred vision (optic neuritis); fits with dizziness and odd sensory things as well.
Look, it's probably none of these - it could just be high blood pressure / stress - but worth going to see someone - colds in surgeries are daft reasons to delay IMHO
