I have the Humax 9200. 160GB etc etc - apparently it's just like Sky+ though not quite as good .... Like this Buy Humax Products Direct from HUMAX - LCD TV - Digital TV - PVR TV - DTR TV - Flat Screen TV - Flat TV - PVR - tv recorder - Personal video recorder - video - television - LGB - DZT - DTT :HUMAX DIRECT Ltd: but a smaller disc. It *might* be for sale as I now have a sky box ...

IIRC, John from the gadget show recommended this as the best PVR.

We have a Thompson PVR and its rather good.

As well as Humax, Topfield are always well recommended. I have a Sony RDR-HXD970 which is a FV HDD recorder with a 250GB drive, and a DVD player/recorder. It's been superb right from the off with very high quality HDD recordings, and the option to output to DVD with high speed dubbing writing a disc in minutes. Mine's also multi-region enabled making it a full featured DVD player with 1080p upscaling and HDMI too.

It is, but it's an analogue and a digital, not two digital. I have FV in my TV too so I can still record one and watch another. Never been an issue for me, but may be for others.

Another vote for the Humax but in my case the 320GB PVR9300T

It is absolutely brilliant, very intuitivfe to use, series link, cuts out adverts if you want it to, auto checks for updates and programme schedule changes etc etc

Would highly recommend it - also is cheaper than the 9200.......... or at least it was.

IIRC the 9300 is an upscaling version of the 9200. It has a bigger hard drive too. I tried one a little while ago but found the cooling fan to be very noisy so it went back to the shop. If you're needing it to use on a smaller (<37") screen then the SD 9200 would be my choice.

Just bought the in-laws a Thomson 6300-25 Digital TV recorder for crimbo from Argos. In the book it was priced at £99. When we checked the availabilty the price was £79.
