Default Music at Work.....

I insist on it..... although the "area" in which I reside (with my subordinates) is close to another where it's banned! The problem is that my opporsite number seems to think that any form of enjoyment should be removed from the workplace....

Having to work is bad enough, having to work somewhere that you can't enjoy yourself, well that's feckin crazy

PS, It's not chav-stylee toones..... it's the orchestre national de france

I have to agree, I hate working without the radio on, the only station we can get in our Faraday cage of an office is Radio 1

Cool

I have 2gb of mp3s on my laptop and a set of headphones so music all day and no one to complain.

We also have shares on various servers with mp3s on. Plus what is stopping you playing CDs on your computer. Er provided you work with a computer that is, but as you are surfing scoobynet I assume you do

I can't work without a Radio on. Earlier this year a lad in the office complained about it and I got told to switch it off.

After smashing it against the wall in a fit of rage, I bought another one and plugged my headphones in. Couldn't take this too long as my ears started aching. Have it on now without headphones but have turned it down a bit.

The Office is getting restructured in the new year (All one big office) and I know there will be calls for it to be banned again.

The same lad who comlained is a total gobsh*te. Loves the sound of his own voice and hates it when you ignore one of his many stories. That's why he wants it banned.

The days drag like f*ck when I have to sit in silence

Wait til your management get wind, hot thing now is PRS payments and they've even been going to the likes of garages with a radio on and giving them grief.
My last company spent nearly ten grand a year for PRS licence for the music on hold system.

On the one hand, I can actually work without music......

(whilst installing)

However, because I work with music all day every day, I CANNOT have the radio/MP3 etc on whilst doing admin/"regular" work Can't concentrate!!!

No way we would get away with a radio on - mbile phones must be kept on silent for fear of disturbing others. Just been told we're not allowed to listen to music through headphones either.

We use to have the odd argument between workshop staff and their choice of radio station until we agreed time patterns to suit both parties.
Mornings on 1 station and the afternoon on a different radio station. Worked for a while until 1 party decided to get there own radio. This then bought on volume wars between both parties. Both sides had been warned to keep volume levels sensible. It seemed to be working quite well, both sides happy.

Until one guy decided to super glue the tuning dial on the other sides radio.

Now we have no radio at all.

I don't mind music of almost any type, but listening to some infantile DJ prattling on makes me want to kill something. Luckily there are enough people in my team of this view to mean there's no music.

I should also point out that it's mainly women who don't seem to be able to do any work without a radio playing in the background...

Or, have music in other lingo lyrics. You won't understand it anyway, and still enjoy rhythms and beats
Classical instrumental is great to get along with work. The only problem is that the lows and highs in such music can still affect one's mood at work, depending upon how hopelessly romantic one is When Les Misrables is lamenting high, one may have to answer a phone call in very enthusiastic voice to a customer. But one may miserably fail to do so with the courtesy of Les Miserables. One just have to be very careful what one is listening during work hours; according to the kind of work one is doing.

Bob, do you find yourself talking to yourself sometimes? I do.

I don't drive a van, but I do drive a car on long runs, to get to the places I work at.

I've just told my guys and gals to get an ipod dock and wire up the offices with speakers.

It then goes on a rota, and each member of staff gets a morning / afternoon to plug their ipod in.

Its going to result in full on war! awesome!
