Winter Solstice is on us
On Sunday Winter officially starts with the longest night and shortest day. Which means the days will finally be getting longer , and the Weather even colder
Here's hoping for a really snowy Winter when all us 4WD types can feel all smug and get some 4 wheel fun in the snow

without sounding smug..........
in simple terms there will still only be 24 hrs in the day so the days wont be getting longer however the amount of daylight may well be longer

Here's hoping it snows in North Yorkshire while I'm at my parents for crimbo - some polly bagging in the hills is the closest I'm gonna get to skiing this year

I've driven in serious snow and ice in a Calibra Turbo, and while the TXB is nothing like as bad as people make out, the dumb **** 4WD in the vauxhall is a little scary
I made it through 2 New Years in the lakes driving up and down some serious hills in that car (the worst that was open would have to be The Struggle getting up to the top of Kirkstone Pass which was basically covered in sheet ice). It was probably a good thing that Hard Knott and Wrynose were shut!

Good for you.
About 6 years ago we had some snowfall and it iced the local roads.
I set off at 6.30am as usual and decided to test the brakes for safety's sake.
From 5mph it must have taken 100yds to come to a full stop, at one point I opened the door to add some "flintstone stopping techniques" but that just made the car start to pirouette so I promptly desisted!
Subaru ABS is crap on ice, after that I disconnected the fuse at the first sign of snow and bought myself an RA
