Angry RyanAir

Supposed to be flying to Spain on Friday to Mercia but our dog needs an op so the missus doen't want to go now which is fair enough so I have 2 tickets spare now. My question is will it be worth trying to recoup some money back on Ebay as Ryanair does not have a cancellation policy

I think you will need a name change and would get charged for this..

Any comments???

Can u not just change the date on the tickets? Thats if you still want to go sometime in the future.

Does your credit card cover you for this kind of thing?

no mate it would cost a fortune to change names, it would just be cheaper to book new tickets I work in a travel agents and its a knightmare for us to sort them out when we make a mistake. Have you got travel insurance or did you book through a travel agent, you maybe atol backed?? I wouldnt bother calling them either because it will cost you a billion pound in phone calls.

It depends how much the tickets were to start with. A name and/or date change is £25 per passenger per ticket (i.e. £50 for both ways).

Personally I would try the travel insurance if the dog's operation is vital and cannot be postponed.

Best lube up then, the big guys in the nick will be waiting for you.

Sorry, but that would be the worst attempt at insurance fraud ever. If they're going to honour a payout, they'll want proof that the dogs ill. The vets files will show it was diagnosed before the policy was taken out.

On second thoughts, they'll never notice. Let us know how you get on.

Are we talking the same Ryanair?! Being internet based to cut costs they don't want anyone to call them, so they deliberately understaff the call centre to make people get fed up with being in a queue and ring off, and calls are charged at about £1 per minute.....

Great Britain0871 246 000010p per minute

Yep. Pardon me for stating the obvious - whilst I have flown with Ryanair literally dozens and dozens of times I still dislike them with a vengeance; the only reason for using them is because they are cheap. However, their cancellation/refund policy is stated clearly in their terms and conditions (the ones you were prompted to read when you booked) so why complain when you entered into a contract on those terms?

Fair point - I called them from overseas when they or the baggage handlers lost my skis and it certainly wasn't 10p a minute then!

Lets put it this way, the bill for calls to Ryanair from a mobile from overseas trying to locate my lost baggage was £60.......most of that spent sitting in a queue

Note that they charge different amounts if you use the Call Center (for example the £25 I mentioned earlier magically becomes £55).

Depends how much the tickets owe you - and you would have to do a name change to the purchaser, I wouldn't have thought there would be much time now anyway if you are going on Friday.

The cheapest option is almost certainly to change the dates and go another time yourself. If they were booked on a mates credit card you would probably have to do the changes the same way

You need the booking reference and name of passenger, you can then login and do a date change. You do not have to use the same credit card.

(My daughter was sick, couldn't fly home so the insurance company changed the flight but wouldn't pay for priority boarding (fair enough) so I logged in and paid for it myself)

You are right, I wasn't sure and couldn't remember, but have now recalled I did a change on the missus's flight for her once with my card and her booking reference
