but can you bump start a car with a faulty starter motor, or is best to tow / trailer it

yes, put it in 4th, depress clutch and bump start

providing the starter motor failure isnt a stuck or engaged pinion gear

Yes, thats what I was thinking, if it is still engaged it will cause a bit of damage

Just had it on the toyota where the starter motor stayed engaged, burnt out and shorted the battery out in the process, luckily it didnt cause any damage in the engine bay
