Australia the film

Nicole Kidman definately needs to put on some weight but that aside, all of the actors put on sterling performances!

Wrong. One of it's main intentions is as a history lesson.
It's been funded to the tune of 50 million odd by the Australian government as an advert for Australia and a history lesson and attempt at reconcilliation with the indiginous Australians that they have abused and treated like crap (often far worse than in apartheid SA) for years (and still do in fact).
Given these facts a lot of people give a F**k as you so eloquently put it

Thank god for that I didn't want to offend you
I've read a lot of people have been upset by the film in the same way that people get upset about just about anything these days.
Here is the synopsis from the IMDB website
Hardly sounds like a history lesson to me nor does it make me want to rush out and pay £8 to see it.
Anyone else seen it go some views?

Here is the synopsis from the IMDB website
In northern Australia at the beginning of World War II, an English aristocrat inherits a cattle station the size of Maryland. When English cattle barons plot to take her land, she reluctantly joins forces with a rough-hewn stock-man to drive 2,000 head of cattle across hundreds of miles of the country's most unforgiving land, only to still face the bombing of Darwin, Australia, by the Japanese forces that had attacked Pearl Harbor only months earlier.
Anyone else seen it go some views?

Pontificating
What made me laugh was the yanks complaining they couldn't understand it and it should have had sub titles PMSL at the yanks.
How about Deliverence for example !! "You got a purty mouth"

Isn't it funny how this always comes up about films. I dont know anything about the film thats been talked about in this case, but there are many Films that get this sort of reaction. But i think its great, because all you are getting is somebody version of History of events, it should'nt be taken too serious.
