Ok, I'm from up North so when visiting our great capital city usually park at Stanmore or Watford Junction and train/tube it into the city. Gonna be in Hickstead for a couple of days, any tips on where to park nearer London to get easy access into the city from the South, nearer the better really to be able to use a Travelcard or whatever (ie. cheap as possible)?

Fair play ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Hickstead East Sussex yeah ?
If so, I would say drive to Caterham, get a train to London Bridge from there, and then you are right where you wanna be already, and easy access to the tube from there too.
That way there is less driving and more relaxing.
Depending on the train service from caterham when you are travelling.
There is also Crawley too, same sort of thing. Weekend service is every 30 mins I am told, alternating Victoria and London Bridge, both which has good access and places of interest near by.
In fact there are quite a few options along the way, but that would be my suggestion.
If you wanted the car near by, the options are really endless, Croydon, Vauxhall ....

Thanks Snazy.
Car nearby isn't a priority, cheap fare to join the tube network is more the requirement. 3 adults and 1 child visiting central London isn't cheap!

Basically so long as you are inside Zone 6 when you get on the Train/Bus/Tube/DLR or Tram a OFF PEAK One day travelcard will suffice. £7 for an adult. £2 for a child.
So just park near one of those points.

go to Gatwick Airport or Three Bridges, plenty of car parks, and you're on the main line to Clapham/Victoria or London Bridge/Blackfriars depending which train you choose to get. Gatwick Express as well if you're in a hurry ![Thumb](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif)
Gatwick is a 15 min drive up the A23 from Hickstead.
