Default Anyone going to watch Duel tonight?

Duel ITV4 9pm

"A travelling salesman driving on a remote stretch of road is relentlessly pursued by a giant articulated truck which seems to have a mind of its own. Steven Spielberg made his feature-length directorial debut with this thriller, starring Dennis Weaver, Jacqueline Scott and Eddie Firestone".

I fancy a bit of a thrilling tonight.

I thought it was quality, I am starting to become a big fan of retro movies, they seem to have some story to them as apposed to the ****e coming out in the cinema these days

The truck didn't have a mind of its own, it had a very strange driver. (we only see his arm i believe).

Ohh, it makes the film so much more watchable

Its got to be a very boring Friday night to watch that cr@p IMO. Even if it was the only channel on TV I think Id rather play Monopoly on my own

this is a film everyone needs to see at least once!!! (in fact once will probably do) and yes its still a good watch IF there is nothing else on.

cannot compare to modern action movies in any way and the acting is double crap... (i think the highlight of the film is when DW pulls up in a truckstop) the dialogue stretches to two pages at this particular juncture.

worth a 1st time watch IMHO

i forgot it was a spielberg directed movie!!!

Yes.

I thought the film was very good. Intriguing, captivating, and anxiety provoking. I didn't even wanna go for a wee during the film, I was so engrossed! Shame ITV4 has intervals. Well done, Spielberg

BTW, the lorry wasn't unmanned. Not just the arm, but also you see the psycho driver's shoes, and his abstract body shape at times.

Dave, what did you watch last night? Was it Scary Movie 4?

I watched it and they cut out the first part of the film

I am glad I watch this, because now I won't need to watch it again for along time yet.

It was the original "made for TV" version. They added the extra bit at the beginning, the school bus and the level crossing scenes to make the cinema version.

Bought original DVD a few months back - quality movie

Truck is a 1955 Peterbilt 281. Even though you know the truck has a driver, you start to see the truck itself as the psycopath!

I know what you mean. Spielberg has picked on the lorry phobia, rather than that of the lorry driver. It happens with some people in real life. Some nearly wet themselves at the site of any lorry, lorry driver remains totally irrelevant in their mind. Manure sprayer HGV (I think, it is HGV ) has similar effect on me, if not the same. as soon as I find myself behind/side/in front of them, I go : "Oh, ****!"
