Default Recommend me a couple of good albums?

Got a bit long drive coming up and looking to download a few albums for the trip.

Not bought any music for ages - must be getting old! So what's good at the minute?

I like most stuff, but not the manufactured X Factor tripe drivel.....

With regards to The Presets: follow this link and listen to a couple of the tracks on the player on the right hand side. I prefer the second album Apocalypso. Youtube might be better: YouTube - The Presets - Aeons

For something more poppy, but nothing like commercial pop, try The Concretes.

i second kings of leon, brilliant from begining to end

Also the new greatest hits album from the Stereophonics, think its called 'a decade in the sun' i listen to this all the time when out driving.

The new live lounge album is a good listen too.

Gotta say that I'm liking :-

The Ting Tings
Ladyhawke
Katy Perry

Disappointment so far?

Take That - just goes to show that unless your name is Gary Barlow, step away from the musical instrument!!

Guns N'Roses - Chinese Democracy (well, Axl anyway)
Alter Bridge - Blackbird (a great band and a great rockin' album)
Queen + Paul Rodgers - The Cosmos Rocks (surprisingly good!)
AC/DC - Black Ice (best album from these guys for a while)
Black Stone Cherry - Fokelore and Superstition (good old Southern blues rock)
Pink Floyd - The Division Bell (a bit older than these others but an A+++ album and good for a long drive)
Rammstein - Mutter (don't blame me if you get done for putting your foot down to Fauer Frei)
The Verve - Urban Hymns (a classic and some easy listening)
The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses (for when you just want to switch off but have something on)
Walter Trout - Breaking the rules (good time blues band)

One more vote for Vampire Weekend's album. From the last couple of years, the two best albums of the decade - Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem and It's Never Been Like That by Phoenix.

The Cult - The Singles

Carter USM - 30 Something

PWEI - Box Frenzy

The Prodigy - Music for the Jilted Generation

Anthrax - Sound of White Noise

Steve

Edit - not exactly current, but I reached that age a few years ago when all new music is officially not as good as the older music
