Imagine you're a Dragon, and a pair of geeks come in wanting a load of your cash and valuable time to launch a new satellite TV channel.
It's going to show endless repeats of programmes you've already seen once, twice after the Beeb repeated it, but, obviously, just must see again. Shows like Top Gear, Grand Designs, Buzzcocks and for that special treat, a couple of hours of old Dragons Dens on a Sunday morning.
It will be really popular with 30-something 2 + 2 men, successful professionals, who love cars and daft gadgets, drive Imprezas, and spend far too much time on an obsure website called ScoobyNet. Most of them work in IT.
Dave will be so successful that for these men it will be their number one choice, having flicked through the regular channels to find wall to wall soaps and reality TV, and who will switch back for yet another dose of their tried and tested favourites. It will be so successful that Clarkson will even give it an unsolicited plug live on Top Gear.
Now then, can we have a squillion quid please? Oh, and you are going to call this channel, erm, Dave.
Question, "I'm out" or hand over the cash?
Richard.
