U2 should have stopped a very long time ago. Nothing like ruining your image by releasing ****e year after year. haven't liked any of there stuff in the past 12 or more years.

Plus Bono is a numpty.

It's average at best and I am a big fan of U2.

Hopefully the rest of the album will deliver. They are yet to make a real stinker - could this be it?

I loved U2. I went to see U2 before everyone jumped on the post-Live Aid bandwagon. But that was then and 1983 should be left behind: its time for people to move on.

U2 should have quit in about 1992. I was a massive fan in the 80s, wouldn't hear a bad word said about them.

Now they just produce pointless albums, with no new ideas, and seem intent on ripping fans off by bringing out best of albums. I also note the new album is available in 5 different formats, to screw a bit more money out of fans.

No doubt this album will be heralded as "a return to form", "best new album for years" etc.

They should have quit the day that the preachy idiot Bono, after years and years of telling us from the comfort of his ivory towers how our actions are destroying the world flew his favourite hat first class half way around the world.

I think anyone who is really in the know, know's they should have quit 20 years ago!

People who think the album is a scorcher are probably from the record company!

Why? Does flying your hat around the world suddenly make you musically inept? I would rather just listen to the music than worry about whether or not the band are dicks or not.

Flying your hat around the world doesnt make you musically inept, It makes you lose all your credibility and integrity but it doesnt make you inept.

What I believe makes them inept is there boring middle of the road generic post 1995 soft rock.

There conflicting moral integrity is just a little thing that I find makes them an even more less attractive band to listen too.

That's more like it and a perfectly fair comment.

Personally I love some of their more recent output although The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby remain their finest moments. Anyway each to their own.

I think the moment I lost respect was when Bono referred to Blair & Brown as being like Lennon & McCartney, I was almost sick on the spot!
