Default Pensioners in spain bleating

Just on the bbc now "oh, the pension isn't worth what it was when me moved out here and we need help"

Boo feckin hoo, if you were in the UK, paying UK bills, shopping in UK shops, supporting UK jobs - I might have some sympathy but as you're taking your UK pension out of the UK and giving to the Spaniards - tough titty.

YOU retired early, YOU decided to move away so YOU deal with the consequences.

Jealousy is a wonderful thing. My stepdad retired after turning 65 on 1st Jan. He's worked pretty much every day of his life since he was 13. He's paid tax in this country for 52 years, he's paid NI in this country for 52 years, he ran his own business and created jobs in this country for 47 years and now thanks to financial mis-management by the Government, the money he kept in the UK so he didn't give it to the Spaniards is worth a lot less than it should be. Mind you, he's not asking for help, he's just living with it and waiting for the £ to go back up against the €.

Park home type place in uk - live there in Spring summer.

Then you'll still be entitled to full benefits, NHS etc.

This is the best option.
not sure how many days you can manage to be away from uk before your 'struck off' theyre lists, didnt think it was that many tho

To complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner.

To be fair I think you can spell it either way, although proper English dictates the removal of the 'e' in the middle.

Mangled how exactly? Copied from an online dictionary to help you out....

whinge - definition of whinge by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.

No, but aside from your stepdad living in Spain your post had zero relevance to the original post hence my comment.

Firstly, it's living on a pension in Spain. Secondly, just on word count alone it had 75% relevance. Thirdly, it is relevant because it illustrates that away from the rather Daily Mail headline, that not ALL pensioners living in Spain are bleating or whinging (without the "e") and thirdly argues the fact that these people may have actually contributed to this country's economy before retirement so the notion of "**** 'em, they chose to live somewhere nice and sunny" not only over-simplifies the situation, but also fails to take into account any facts whatsoever.

If you can't make a simple connection like this, you presumably have a hard time in the real world.

Eggsackly! An American dictionary. According to the Oxford Concise, it is Whingeing, not Whinging. Why is removal of the "e" correct? Try that with the root "Singe" (burn lightly or superficially) !

LOL at you The whole crux of the original post is about those pensioners moaning about the exchange rate etc. Your stepdad isn't hence your post was almost worthless although it did have a redeeming factor, as you pointed out, of making us realise that not all of them are whinging ..... not that I ever thought they all were

Now look this is just a silly web forum and there really is no need to get quite so het up. It's not my fault you missed the point. OK OK sorry, just teasing

As for the real world maybe I have a hard time by your standards I don't know. I do OK, make a living and have a laugh. Seems OK to me. Still, maybe you know better

Almost

They can complain as much as they like about the exchange rate (I would ) but don't go on the frikkin news about how much help you need!

Joe Bloggs goes on and says:
"Exchange rate is pants, can't get the value we used to and struggling a bit but at least the sun is shining and it's not Hull, we'll do our best with what we've got"
then fair enough, good luck Mr Bloggs.

As opposed to Fred Smith:
"My pension is crap because of the exchange rate, I retired early, bought a villa and some shell suits and now can't survive because I didn't consider this could ever happen, help me"
then get stuffed Mr Smith.

Probably because she remembers when even though the standard of living was lower, this was a much better country to live in.
