has anyone seen a U.F.O?

My sister and brother in law had a wierd encounter
Walking across a corn field on the Isle of Wight at about 1am, the entire field lit up in brilliant white light to the point where they couldn't keep their eyes open. The light suddenly faded leaving them somewhat dazzled. There was no noise just the light.
I suggested that it was some kind of magnesium flare but I have no idea why someone would be firing a magnesium flare off in the middle of the night.

Erm, I have
Two actually But there could've been a completely plausible explanation for them both, it's just that in the 30 years since the first one and the 15 years since the second one I haven't worked it out yet

I'm beginning to get concerned with this now. We have for the first time ever had on Orders a contact number for U.F.O. sightings through the RAF. Can imagine the boys getting a few calls this weekend from pissed up squaddies reporting all sorts of nonsense.

Ive also seen two lights I couldnt explain in the sky at night, one was moving very quickly, very near, with no noise. Not saying it was Aliens, but I couldnt explain it.

I could never work out a logical explanation for them and I remember the same thing being reported on the local radio as other people had obviously seen them too. This was over a very large flat area so no obstruction from hills etc, you could see for miles and miles. Was quite bizarre to watch.

99%of UFOs are explainable, the other 1% are explainable too, we just don't know the answer yet
Probably military, think what people would have thought of Stealth in the development years, and that's old technology now.

Similar to the two I saw by the sounds Bravo. I was in the middle of nowhere camping, no habitation/towns, or light sources etc for about 20-30 miles.
Very very bright and large lights which didnt move in any way you would normally associate with a plane/chopper. The lights were completely silent. As you say, very fast, stop start, up down etc. We watched them for about 5 mins, they then stayed perfectly still and faded out slowly.

This is the only thing I have come up with as there is a high security MOD development/testing facility a few files from where I saw these aircraft/lights.

Without wanting to be flamed.....
I agree the majority of strange things we see ARE military related.
BUT... I do think its very ignorant to completely rule out the slightest possibility that there may be intelligent life SOMEWHERE in Space. And, if there is, why wouldnt they want to explore?

Only thing that concerns me about aliens really is : Will it all kick off independence day style or will they just all end up moving in to our country and claiming benefits? .... either way is gonna be a shocker!
Seriously though, for the record i'm a believer in the sense of it seems logical to me that we aren't the only "intelligent" .... rephrase that, sentient race knocking around in existence. I'll believe it when i see it but i won't disbelieve until i do .... if that makes sense?

The Fermi paradox says "why, if the universe was teeming with life, no-one had seen any evidence of alien civilisations?"
A mathematician came up with the following "solution" to the problem...
"He calculated that eight probes travelling at a tenth of the speed of light, and each capable of launching up to eight sub-probes, would take about 100,000 years to explore a region of space containing 40,000 stars.
When he scaled up the search to include 260,000 such systems in our galaxy's habitable zone, the probes took almost 10 billion years - three quarters the age of the universe - to explore just 0.4 per cent of the stars.
New Scientist magazine reported: "Bjork's answer to the Fermi paradox: aliens haven't contacted us because they haven't had the time to find us yet."
Bjork said the search could be made more efficient by only visiting those stars which harbour habitable planets."
I have read this in various forms over the years, and to my mind at least, it certainly seems alot more plausible than all the so called sightings. People want to believe, so that clouds their judgement.
In the past it has been dragons, or ghosts, now it's aliens. It's just putting something to an event you can't explain.
I may be proven wrong, in fact I hope I am really, but I'm not holding my breath.

ahhh but the mathematicians calculations are only accurate if you assume that the theories to determine the age of the universe are accurate. Given that we can't be sure that those assumptions are correct since there's no actual way to prove it one way or another, it's still possible that the universe is considerably older than we think it is and that there are races way older and way more advanced than us. There's various sources to suggest how old the human race is in general terms aswell but whichever number you pick, it's significantly lower than the numbers we either currently believe to be the age of the universe or the greater size numbers it could potentially be.
If our scientists and mathematicians have managed to theoretically demonstrate the actual possibility of teleportation and time travel then who's to say whether an older and more advanced race may not have perfected these technologies in actual physical forms? If they have, the mathematicians solution isn't valid since the relationship of time to distance would be irrelevant .... personally i'm more inclined to think it comes down to how big is the human races ego since it would be incredibly arrogant of us to assume that we are a) the only sentient race in existence and b) further to that, the most advanced race in existence .... just my opinion though
just as an afterthought .... alien ****???!!!
EDIT : No ***** = FAIL ...... Three ***** = MFW!!!!!
