Age
Sex
Race

Disability.
Please tell me, why is her race, religion or sexuality a reasonable question to ask. I can understand the disability bit but, the rest WTF.

Because Lying Labour have set them targets of equality: they now HAVE to give som many jobs to each category, regardless as to whether they are the best person fro the job................you know, a bit like female DJ's, female footy commentators etc

If she is an ancestrally English, Christian heterosexual and she doesn't get the job then she may have grounds to sue due to being excluded due to her race, religion and sexual preference, because the job is sure to go to an immigrant, Muslim lesbian

All public sector job applications have this.
But it's an old form because asking about age is a no-no except in special circumstances.
She probably doesn't have to complete if she doesn't want to.
Hope she gets the job btw. d

I'm a strong believer that a job should go to the person that is most qualified and not just a person that fulfills the latest daft criteria have to employ to look good.
lol if I won the lottery I would use some of the money to fight cause like this !

I'm with you on this - its about time we all club together and use some beer money to pay for a solicitor to try a case like this. Its about time we started playing the same rules that certain minorities do in this country.

If I'm honest, I feel that we shouldn't be looking to start "play the game"; but rather, the aim should be to get rid of the mountains of red tape and nonsense that this bunch of morons put in place - then there would be no game to play and common sense might even stand a reasonable chance of prevailing.
You're so right when you say that it should be the most qualified for the job; trouble is as far as the police and this government seem to be concerned, it's the person deemed most politically correct that wins. This has got to stop.

I personally believe that we should run a system like the USA where companies are forced to employ a native countryman or woman over anybody else for a vacancy.

So they should ask NONE of these questions. Then they won't know what sexuality/colour/religion/etc. the applicant is therefore they can't treat the application in any manner other than equally.
Once they know age/sex/race etc. then they start to use these in the vetting process which is, according to them, wrong.

As already mentioned it's about diversity !!! Any NHS serves a diverse community so it's important that their workforce reflects this. I work for the Fire Service and our applications are very similar. It also ensures that there are no barriers to entry for any area of the community. I hope her application is sucessful and that things go well.
Cheers,
Wilky.

Incidentally, when the info is passed from HR for shortlisting / interview, all of that information (including date of birth) is removed.
We can usually get the age pretty close as it gives dates of exams taken (like GCSE etc) LOL

As far as im aware it isnt compulsory to give them sort of details about yourself if you do not wish. I know that in most companies you are guarenteed an interview if you have a disability. Even asthma and diabetes qualifies someone as disabled.
