Exclamation What's the longest...

...that you haven't known someone's name?

I just found, via Facebook, that my mate of about 22 years isn't Bobby but Matt! I've NEVER heard anyone call him Matt!

Knew a bloke for a couple of years as Harry.

Then heard his mum calling him Gordon. Harry was pure nickname but no one ever told me where it came from.

Up until he was thirteen I thought my brother was called Jonathan, his first name is actually Richard! For some reason my parents decided to call him by his middle name and then when he was a bit older he wanted to use his first name instead. We had his friends from school knocking at the door asking for Richard and I was telling them they must have the wrong house
It still causes confusion now with relatives.
My username on here is my middle name

Was introduced to a guy called Ron about 18 years ago. Natually I called him Ron, as did everyone else.

It wasn't until a few years later that I found out it was a nick name given to him when he went bare chested once. "The only person who'd walk bare chested in this weather is Tarzan" (think about it), commented a mate.

I don't actually remember his real name after telling this tale
