Both Mr Hassan and his wife worked at Bridges TV, a station aimed at countering stereotypes of Muslims.

Well I would say so, yes.
He runs a TV network aimed at countering stereotypes that Muslims face, one of which is that they like the "beheading" as a prefered choice of murder. The second would be that they kill their women if they do not obey them.
You will remember the case of the guy in Stockport not too long ago that killed his wife and kids because she divorced him.
Now i'm not saying that I believe these stereotypes, but the OP was referring to the irony of the situation. This guy did not favours to his fellow Muslims by committing this crime.
What we have to remember is that honour killings among people from that part of the world still happen, I suppose its their culture to some degree
Maybe shooting her would have been a better idea

Some non Muslims have been known to kill their wives in all sorts of ways-beheading too I should not wonder! And some Muslims will have used all sorts of methods too I bet!

Cos islam gave him the beheading idea, and told him it was ok to do it!
