Default Car Broken into!

Tch ... parked on a street in London for less than an hour with my laptop in the boot.

Passenger window smashed, back seat put down and computer taken. Such a bizarre crime as my iPod Touch and Satellite Navigation were also in the car but just the laptop was taken.

Pain as I have £70/excess on the window and my company will have to pay for a new computer.

I guess you parked up and then put the laptop into the boot???

Which would mean whoever stole it watched what you did and waited for you to go away

Same happened to me rear side window broken and back seat pulled down - although fortunately the boot was empty. Didn't stop them breaking in for a look though.

No, the computer wasn't switched on. Perhaps they saw me put it in the boot. Still, you live and learn and I'll put the computer in the boot before I leave work in future.

As usual with me, Autoglass don't have the glass in stock and I'll have to wait until tomorrow or Monday. (It's a Focus ST3, so not exactly rare).

You'll probably find it's some exclusive tint for the ST's that the basic models don't get. I remember having a similar issue with my mum's old Primera SRi. The windscreen had the sunstrip on it same as the eGT, but none of the other (mainstream) models did

I assume the PC is password protected if its business ?? I would think they would just dump it .. cant see them bothering to sort it.

Heres hoping they die in a nasty car crash with a tree..

The BIOS is also altered for the company so it has a "Property of E M C" on bootup. I would imagine normally people would just wipe the hard drive and re-install, but the BIOS message is a pain to overwrite.

Whoever buys the computer it will be blatently obvious it has been stolen.

Mine was done last week, I staggered out of the car in a drunken stupor (not me driving it) and left my pda on the passenger seat.
Result an hour later a terrible bang, no PDA. Thieving *******s.
