Default "Acts of God"

Been channel hopping and caught a bit of Billy Connelly's flick 'The Man who Sued God'
Basic premise is that Billy's character's boat gets vaped by lightning strike and his insurance won't pay up citing "Act of God". You can probably guess the rest but I digress...

Has anyone been shafted by their insurance company because of this? Does anyone actually read the small print (I don't) of their so called comprehensive insurance policy?

Was there any mention of that storm being an "act of god"?

Anyway, still channel hopping and caught this qoute from the film (from IMDB)...
Steve Meyers: So if God does exist, the Churches must be liable.
Anna Redmond: And the churches can only win the case if they prove God does not exist.
Steve Meyers: [laughs] Do you want to tell them?

This may open can of worms...
These Acts of God that do occur in insurance policies. What happens if the party taking out the insurance is of a different faith to that of the insurer? If such Acts come into play which deity applies? Seems flippant but there's a serious side to this.

Didin't think they were allowed to use the term act of god anymore!

I got house insurance here in Germany and am insured against any damage casue by the natural elements, in my policy it also states hard rain and high winds etc aswell as landslides, floods, earthquakes. I was talking to the guy at the bank here about thsi act of god thing and he thought it was funny.
