Depends on force to force mate.
Check the website of the one you are interested in, under recruitment, and it should have a full list of details there.
Quite some good info on here too.... PoliceUK.com

I remember when I joined and many of the non white recruits had not been waiting very long, particularly the women.
Most white men had been waiting upwards of 2 years.
I don't recall being asked if I prefered pink or brown though

Mate its not the police wanting them so much, its the PC brigade pressuring these things into the system.
You got it right though, its governed by a bunch of happy go lucky politicians who just want the minority vote, and want to be seen as doing everything right for everyone but the actual citizens of the country.
NOT the police's fault though.
Thats a bit like blaming the girl behind the counter in Burger King that they have ended a promotion....... if you catch my drift lol

If the Police are to police the community it will probably help if they had a similar demographic ie were made up of staff that mirror the community? Last time I looked the community wasn't 99% white male!

Basic salary £22104, then pay rise after 36 weeks to £22500.
Training as a student officer last circa 90 weeks. On completion, confimed as an officer and pay increases to circa £25k.
Entry is subject to:
- Written Application Form:
based on competency focusing on:
-- Respect for Race & Diversity (this would rule out 90% of SN members )
-- Team Working
-- Customer & Community Focus
-- Effective Communications
-- Problem Solving
-- Responsibility
-- Resilience
You also need to disclose any criminal offences, basic vetting of yourself and close family.
If you pass the papersift above you will then be invited to Assessment centre which is a half day consisting of:
-- written exercises,
-- numeracy exercises,
-- role plays (4)
-- 20 minute interview
You will be judged on the competencies listed above in the application form. The pass mark is a minimum of 50%, although many forces have voluntarily increased this to a higher mark.
You will then be requested to complete a detailed vetting form, including your previous addresses, your wider families details, plus further details of political/terrorist activities.
The final three stages can be in any order: Final Interview Board, Medical, Fitness Test.
Medical, which includes:
-- eyesight
-- hearing
-- drug testing
-- blood pressure/heart rate
-- previous medical history
-- interview with Force doctor
Fitness Test:
-- Push/Pull strength test (35kg min)
-- Shuttle Run (Bleep test) to a minimum of level 5.4 at 15m
Final Interview Board:
-- Interview by panel of serving officers, HR etc. This will be based on your own application, the needs of the force you are applying too, the competencies demonstrated at application form and assessment centre stages. Not all forces perform this stage.
Once you are in training is split into various sections.
You will also complete a degree in policing (IPLDP): a two year program generally split as:
Weeks 1 - 5: Classroom and practicle based sessions, mostly police led.
Weeks 6 - 24: A mixture of police led and university based sessions and a community placement.
Weeks 25 - 34: Work based learning with a tutor constable/sgt on shifts.
Week 35 - 90: Work based learning - independant patrol.
The modules covered in the above include:
-- Law, procedure and Professional Judgement.
-- Community Engagement and Diversity awareness.
-- Policing in practice (SOLAP)
-- Police theory and organisation (Criminology)
-- Learning to Learn and Life Long Learning
These are assessed through:
Phase tests, written assignments, reflective learning diaries, individual/group presentations, PACs, Portfolio, NOS and Personal Development Programs.
You will be required to complete a Student Officer Learning & Assessment Portfolio (SOLAP), which is split into four phases:
- Induction
- Community Placement
- Classroom teaching & Supervised Patrol
- Independant Patrol
A few examples of the areas you will cover include:
- First aid (you will be examined and gain a qualification in first aid)
- Officer Safety, which includes self defence, cuffing, baton and CS gas, scenario training - thoroughly enjoyable.
- Health & Safety
- Race and Diversity
- Driver Training
Pension is currently 9.5% per month, based on 35 years service. At the end of this, assuming you remain as a PC and earning £30k per annum, you could expect a lump sum payment of £60k and a pension of £15k per annum (these figures do not take into account any inflation).

5.2 on the multi stage fitness test (or bleep test if you will) that's a little low, I would have thought for an entrance level it would be higher, I'm sure even the RAF have to do more than that.
