Default Anyone else got all their paperwork for their property

Got home from work today, and there was a big envelope from my Building Society

It basically contains all of my papers and paperwork regarding my house and mortgage, deeds etc

The covering letter states that I might be interested in them, as the Land Registry has now moved to electronic storage of documents, so are getting rid of all their paperwork

Anyone else had this

Now need to find somewhere to store them all safely LOL

I have copies of all mine from when I purchased the house 12 months ago, surely the original deeds are held by the building society until the mortgage is paid though?

Yes we have ours, different lenders have different policies, we are with halifax and for both houses we have had with them they have sent us all the paperwork and old letter and deed stuff, they would rather you keep them safe than have to themselves these days, all they do is charge you for paying off the debt in the end

It seems they used to keep the deeds, but they have now changed their policy in line with HMRC and decided to 'offload' all of their paperwork

I swapped mortgage providers (from YBS to ING) and received a huge folder full of paperwork.
