I have the new EPG myself as i work for Sky. They are testing it on staff members before unleashing it to the public.
Found a pic of what it looks like on google.

Example:
In the USA - If I wanted to find Top Gear
I would start by typing T and the system filters all programs that start with the letter T (that is where Sky stops, giving me hundreds of programmes to scroll down)
In the USA I then add the letter O so now I see all progs starting To
I type P - filters Top.
Add a space and G etc
I get down to Top Gear very quickly.

Do you know if it allows you to do progressive searches for TV programmes like you can in the USA?

In the USA I then add the letter O so now I see all progs starting To

Apparently its all random when you get it. Few mates already have it. Big plus is apparently with the new EPG there is a way to get ITV HD now

I've had the new epg for a few months now. As I've got a thomson box.
One notable thing it's slower! Notbadly but enough to notice a difference.
And yes you can get itv hd

My 2nd Thomson box is now playing up. Only had this one 3 months. It's now not recording some things I've got set on the planner saying there's no signal.
I'm so tempted to just cancel Sky and go with one of these freesat boxes.

ITV HD accessible with new Sky EPG

Sky+ HD customers whose boxes received yesterday's programme guide upgrade are able to manually add ITV HD to their lineups.
According to reports on Digital Spy's Sky+ HD forum, ITV HD may be accessed by going to the Add Channels menu and using the following settings: 11.427H, 2/3, 27500, channel 10510.
ITV's high definition service launched as a service exclusive to Freesat last year, using a non-standard stream to obfuscate its availability on non-Freesat satellite receivers.
The new version of Sky's electronic programme guide was rolled out to 38,000 boxes yesterday and will be rolled out to all high definition boxes over the coming weeks.
