.... Breastfeeding Mum Genine Compton Charged For Driving And Talking On The Phone In Dayton, Ohio | World News | Sky News
"A US woman has been charged for breastfeeding a toddler and talking on the phone while driving.
The mother's multi-tasking threatened the toddler, police said
Genine Compton, 39, told Ohio police she would not let her child, who is under two years old, go hungry while at the wheel.
She was spotted by another motorist who reported her to the authorities in the Dayton suburb of Kettering.
They located the multi-tasking mother and charged her with child endangerment.
Officer Michael Burke said Compton was tracked her down following a licence plate search.
A male motorist who called Kettering police department last Thursday relayed a brief conversation he had with Compton.
"I'm following right behind her right now on Far Hills Avenue," the caller said in the police-released recording.
"I tried to say something to her. She literally has the little girl on the steering wheel and I said, 'I can't believe you have that kid in your lap and she said, 'You want to pop your t***y out and breastfeed this kid?'
"That's what she said to me. I'm like, 'You can feed your kid when you stop.' It's like wet out here. It's full of traffic. It's ridiculous. She's got like three other kids in the car."
The motorist also witnessed the woman driving a Honda minivan into a local school car park and saw some children get out of the van.
Officer Burke said the police's issue is not with the fact Compton was breastfeeding in public.
He added that she would have been charged even if the child was just sitting on her lap.
"Our issue is that she created the condition that placed her child's health and safety at risk," he said.
Police said she faces up to 180 days in jail and a US$1,800 (£1,280) fine if convicted" .....
