Default Transporting a compressor?

I've bought myself a 50 litre 2hp compressor for the French property, so I can spray-paint the shutters etc.

It is quite large and doesn't easily fit in the boot of the Xantia.

Is it permissible to transport it on it's side, or must it, like fridges used to have to be, be transported only upright?

TIA

It'll be fine on it's side, just make sure it has no air in it.

It shouldn't make any difference what way up it is for transport. As long as tank is emptied before transporting!

If the compressor has a sump with oil lubrication then you will need to drain the oil before transport.

Cheers for the replies.
I'll drain it, and keep the oil to put back once I get there, since it's not been used...........
