Seemed to go from level to abrupt nose down very rapidly.
Nasty crash.

There's some longer footage on Youtube from a Japanese tv station, looks like it landed okish but bounced and got airborne again. Now out of trim and slow airborne stalled nose first and heavy on the left leg.
Looks like the left leg collapsed before it rolled onto it's back in flames. Never seen anything like it

Both crew dead unfortunately

I saw it this morning on the Breakfast News, it's not often you get to see a crash happening. It's awful to know that you're looking at the moment that two people died

Its abit of weird one that.

Why did the BBC footage cut out the initial touch-down?

It makes it look like it just flopped down, when it was actually bouncing and stalling from the initial touch down

Tragic either way.

Might be all they got the immediate rights to.
Shame though as you say, as it does not show the full accident, so explain what happened.

Yes, it's a different accident when you see the initial bounce.
Do you think 'he' just hit too hard on the first touch-down?
Horrible crash
Thoughts to the pilots and their families.

Albeit I'm no lover or defender of the BBC news reporting; I'm bound to challenge your statement as sweeping and generally unsupported by concensus.
I believe, if you watch the BBC website clip, it is taken from a 'fixed' camera situated at Narita's viewing platform.
The aircraft had only just entered the far left of frame at the beginning of the clip.

Good God, thats awful, tragic for the two crew and their families but I am glad it wasn't a passenger plane.

That last pitch down at around 30-40 feet was really harsh.

I hope they find out asap what caused the this horrible event.

No snazzy fireball video though so it's ignored. You people make me sick sometimes.

I don't know what your agenda is Nat, but I suggest you desist: There is no law nor moral saying nobody can or cannot discuss a fatal accident.

Could have been 300 - 400 or so dead if it had happened to the passenger variant MD11.

Desist from comments like the above.

Rating a thread upon the mangitude and number of deaths is a very odd way of browsing a general discussion forum.

I will have an agenda if you continue with baiting like in the above quote. If you don't like what is said on this thread, or these forums, why not you move along and find somewhere else to go and vent?

My apologies Nat, I can only cope with one Plane crash at a time, I hadn't had time to prioritise them based on the number and age of the victims, I was too busy checking that Jade Goody's (RIP - Essex's Princess of hearts) body had not for some reason been flown to Japan by Fedex due to some "slitty eye" comments she made on her deathbed requiring a posthumous trip to patch things up.

I can see your point to an extent Nat, but you have hit the nail on the head. The graphic nature of the plane going down will ALWAYS grab the attention of people. A picture says a 1000 words. And for most it is far more "interesting" to see the actual accident happening.

I feel for the people in the other accident, however working for Fedex.... to me this story has more baring.

I had a look for the other crash but couldn't see it on BBC and then got distracted by your contempt for those expressing their condolences on this thread, perhaps we need some guidelines for how we handle multiple Plane crashes in one day ?

You seem very contrary these days, perhaps if we are all so crass, insensitive and stupid you would be better off not reading SN and find a forum with an incumbent that better suits your sensibilities, after all it is a Subaru/Performance car related web site not the Samaritans, to be honest I think the caliber of posters on here, by and large is better than (given the sites basic purpose) it has any right to be, we may miss things, we may get things wrong, so we all apologise for our general crapness regarding plane crash related expressions of condolence.
