Headphone reccomendation
Ok, having tried all manner of quite expensive one's from the usual makers - Sure, Bose, Sony, Sennheiser etc...
I came across some of these
Philips - Earhook Headphones SHS8000/97 - Corded - Headphones - Accessories
And they are BRILLIANT.
Far better than any of the above mentioned brands offerings (upto £100) and only a TENNER
Go try. Quite shocked to be honest, they're really good.

I'm just having the headphone dilemma
I've had Shure EC2's which I thought were a bit rubbish, they sounded Ok-ish but the bass was distorted at high volumes and the cable broke at the jack plug end.
I've got some Bose over ear jobbies which are comfy and Ok for listening to at home in the quiet but again there's a bit of distortion at higher volumes.
So now I want some in-ears for my ipod, they must have great bass, preferably with some sub They need to be strong and have a great sound. I suppose money wise I'll spend up to about £130 ish but it's the sound that's important, not the price.
Please help me Snetters
I'm currently reading nice things about the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5, has anyone tried these?

Right then all settled down, i've thrown up a thread elsewhere to see what they can recommend but my line of thinking for now is the futuresonics atrio m5, it's known to be the top dog in bass performance and can handle sub bass but still retain good sq and not become bloated.
It's not quite an iem more your traditional earbud with an iem type of fitting, some use the black shure olive tips as they last longer and can seal better, you can wear these upside down and loop the cable around your ears, they use memory wire so they will keep put.
The ue super fi 5's aren't bass monsters, they are good but id doubt they'll provide anything the shure aren't already managing, im assuming you looked at them because of the user replaceable cable, personally sal for what you say you're after id choose the atrio m5's.
Don't buy right away like i've said there's a thread up elsewhere, here's a couple of links to wet your appetite.

My Bose Tri-Ports do the job, bit more for home use though, unless you don't mind having cans strapped to your head. Still quite light and a good full sound IMHO of course, I'm sure some one will be along to pan them soon
Oh yeah, mine are the old TP-1A's btw

Ok two other choices sal, sennheiser 6 or 7.
http://www.macwarehouse.co.uk/catalo...9?cidp=Froogle
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-H.../dp/B00125UBVA
The earphones i've mentioned do need running in to sound their best, from what i can gather the ie7 is the better choice.

Hmm personally, the sennheiser ie7, that amazon link happens to be the cheapest and they have quite a large following, just make sure you get a good seal and run in of course.
The atrio's even though very good im not keen on the way they look.
The sennheisers also have a kevlar reinforced cable, i've not heard of one cable issue.

Heh no worries glad i could help, just give em time to run in.
Dedrater, there are plenty of bargains out there sub £100, i only went for customs for the look and the fit to me they're worth £300 while others say im nuts.

I tried a set of Zalman surround sound headphones which were not very expensive, cant remember how much, and they are of quite good quality.
I use them for my driving games and they are impressive. Not only can I hear a car coming from behind, but I can tell which side as well.

I'm after some new earphones soon.
Whilst I'd pay good money for a really good set, I have no idea that the damn things will stay in my 'lug 'oles (especially when eating/chewing/swallowing).
I find the bass and noise cancellation on ones that don't seal in the ear properly are inferior (especially on airplanes) and the only non in-ear alternative that performs as good are some closed cup over-ear jobbies, which are just bulky, not exactly discreet and act as a pair of ear-muffs which is not pleasant on a hot day.
However, for £10, worth a try.
I already have a set of Philips SBC HP 550 closed cups, not expensive and whilst not over fanstatic either, soundwise they are nice all rounders, with good cancellation of external noises, but a little lacking on extended low bass (they will produce good bass, but need bass-boost adjustment on the amp, so very choosy on the source), can be spitchy at high volume and not very discreet.

i really enjoy headphone listening, 95% of my listening at home being thru headphones.
although with my ipod ive tried quite a few, sennhieser goldring and sony with shure being my personal favourites. getting a proper seal is a bit of a faff, finding the perfect size of ear bud is a lot of trial and error, but when you do they're unbeatable imo. another really under rated range of in ears is the Denon's. can be bought on line for a great price too..

at home, i use stax. if you're thinking about spending a few quid on a headphone(or earspeaker according to stax..) system, i'd highly recommend getting a dem on them..

only problem is, you look like a cyberman wearing them

If you want the best sound quality possible then I would recommend the Sennheiser HD800 headphone, not the cheapest option by far but they will give you massive musical satisfaction in my opinion

Personally id like to try a pair of stax but they can run into the 4k bracket
But a pair of audeze lcd-2 or hifiman he6 will suffice.
