Default Is this quote a bit steep for a Boiler installation

Quotation of new boiler.

Power flush heating system
Remove simi combi boiler
Install new potterton main 30 he high efficiency combination boiler
Fit 3 new thermostatic radiator valves
Rewire all electrics (A plug as far as I'm concerned and a Frost stat)

Refill heating system with inhibitor commission and register boiler with corgi

£3750 plus vat

I'm abroad and need a new Boiler installed pronto at my home in london I think they are playing on the fact i'm out of the country.

Mean while I'm phoning around, bloody hard finding anyone who's Corgi registered who can come out today

If it's a rush job and you are london that might explain some of it but yes that's a lot.

Would be looking at basically a grand more than the boiler is costing and even then.. in a flat? Hmm.

Ask how much they are charging for the boiler. Just did a quick check and its RRP is £1239.93....I can buy one online for £655+flue and delivery! http://www.tradeplumbing.co.uk/30-HE..._p_0-2698.html

Also ask does it "have" to be a Potterton; its not my choice of boiler IMHO

Personally I think that is hugely expensive; I would be expecting some pipework and a few radiators throwin in that lot. But then it is in London.

I know my dad would do the whole heating system for your original quote.

Point was they aren't looking at or replacing pipes so total rip really.

Depends how fast it needs to be done. Vailiant are a good boiler but the company is a nightmare to deal with.

Not to mention badly run and incompetant companies.

Sadly I have had dealings with an arm of them, you'd think installing a bit of software and keep hitting next would be easy wouldn't you.....

Not to them.

Is this the right time to mention who I work for?

Is it also the right time to mention the contract might be run out of my office?

Or should I just keep quiet?

I guess it was the spell checker that failed then?

(I would be interested in knowing which arm of the 35,000 strong company you had dealings with)
