How bad can migraines really be?
I always thought they were just a hypochondriac's headache, but there's a couple of girls in my office who regularly take 3 or 4 days off in a row as a result of them.
What are they? I don't think I've ever had one!

You would know if you had had one.
AGONY !
Unbearable pain, makes you want to bury yourself, or bang your head against something really hard.
Its a pain you cant escape, one of the only pains that has made me want to cry, and I think the word distressing is also fitting.

My mrs gets them and says you would know if you'd had one, a bit like an orgasm, if you're not sure, you haven't had one.
She looks like death warmed up and on a couple of occasions, I've wanted to take her to A&E as she was in agony and could barely speak. She's got pills that keep on top of them if she spots the symptoms early enough but they're nasty as well and she has to take a different one alongside it to help with the side effects of the first.

had one yesterday, still feeling the effects today. feels like i have a head full of cotton wool. You cannot comprehend the agony that is a migraine unless you suffer from them. Count yourself very lucky!

They can be excruciatingly painful. My wife gets them. Surprisingly Bowen Therapy helped her -- so much so that she took a course and can now help others.
They are easy to fake of course as there are no external symptoms, so can be used a a general get off of work.

I get them. Pure ******* agony. Arrrrggggghhhhhh
Usually brought on by eating too much Chocolate.
Used to get them when I was young, and parents said it was just a headache, and bollocked me crying, as the pain was too much.
Get them pretty rare, thank god, but I'm in bed for at least 24hours, and off work for a couple days, as afterwards I'm sensitive to lights. Wouldn't be able to stare at a computer screen at work the very next day.
I always go blind in at least one eye. This lasts for about 20mins, then the pain starts. Last one I had was a couple months ago. Waited to get my eyesight back, drove home, and literally crawled on my hands and knees into my flat. Straight to bed at 3pm. Never got out of it until about 2pm the next day.
My Girlfriend says she gets them all the time, but she doesn't. They are just headaches. I've tolf her. If you had a Migraine you'd know it. You can't sit watching TV with a migraine.

They suck so frickin bad, I didnt get them until I was in my 20's and I thought it was people being drama queens. Then I got my first real one.
massive feeling of compression in the front of my head
Taste of blood in my mouth
Eyes burning
Hearing so acute every noise was hurting
Bit like a super hero, but with rubbish powers when you list it, but now I get these things called Imigran recovery and they seem to do the trick.

I get them, and you can take as many Aspirin’s etc. as you like, it makes squat difference.
Mine tend to start with a mild/background type headache which becomes worse, and can result in being physically sick, as happened last Sunday. For two to three days afterwards, my head can feel 'odd'. (I can't describe it any other way).
I've got some wafers from the doctors, which knock me out, hence I need to be at home before taking them, but a dark room and sleep seems to be the only way through it.

Its always hard trying to get the "sympathy" or "slack" you deserve when you get one too, especially as you only ever seem to be with people who have NO idea what its like to have one.
"its only a frickin headache" and other such lines are common.
*thought I would get that word in once again just to annoy

You'll have to find anpther unique illness/injury no, Mr Bump. ![Stick Out Tongue](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
I used to get them in my early teens. Funnily enough, they stopped around the time I found out about alcohol.
It wasn't until my mid-twenties that I found out about hangovers, which are nothing compared to migraines.
