When did you last have a vehicle accident?
Just curious to know what the feedback will be on this. No, I don't work for an Insurance company! I wonder what the longest accident-free period is for a regular driving licence holding S-Netter?
I'm only interested in accidents with you as the driver (involving damage, irrespective of who was at fault), but it can be in any vehicle, not just a Subaru.
I think my last shunt was a slightly crumpled front wing on a company Astra diesel in about 1994, when a lorry cut me up exiting a roundabout on the A52 in Nottingham. I was also rear-ended by a motorbike () about a year before that.
So I reckon I've gone 15 years at the wheel without so much as a scratch on anything I've driven.
Over to you...

January 2003, total write-off of a MY00 scooby.
Skidded on black ice and parked it sideways at 50 into the back of a fire engine (which was busy cutting a woman out of a car that had also skidded off). Got out the car and narrowly avoided being hit by 2 other cars skidding off the road.
5 minutes later plod turned up to close the road
Don't you just love the A46?

My biggest accident was when I was 18 years old.
Took my mother shopping in my old mans Sierra Cosworth 4x4. It was raining quite heavily, and coming up to a junction, I thought I'd show her how I can get the rear end out.
Stopped at junction to turn right. Right hand lock on the steering wheel. Big revs, drop the clutch, (all 4 wheels spun) and feel the rear end sweep out wide while feeding in opposite lock. Dukes of Hazard Style.
Front end bit too quickly though, and before I could do anything the car embedded itself into the only Lamppost in sight.
I've never felt anything like it before or since. The sheer fear of what my old man was going to do to me. The constant thought of "Why? Why did I do that?".
My mother wasn't too impressed either.
Phoned my dad from a pay-phone, and waited for him to arrive by Taxi. I've honestly never seen him so angry in my life. Really thought we'd end up in a fist fight.
I went to college by bus for the following couple of weeks, just to avoid him.
Edit:-
AWD doesn't always save you, no matter what some people say.

1990 - Spun my MG Metro Turbo (diesel spill I think). Was on my way for relations with a girl in the next village. Phoned the local garage and got them to drop me at the girl's house and my car (write off) on my drive. My mum went ballistic when I got home

God, my driving instructor had a Metro. Awful cars. My dad offered to buy me one when I passed my driving test. Told him to stick it. Bought a Fiesta myself instead.

Not technically me, but a learner under my supervision had someone rear-end us when he pulled up abruptly at some lights in September 07.

I'm not doing too well of recent; went for 8 years of my 12year driving career with not having an accident, then had a light bumper bash in traffic. And three years later (2007) just when I thought I was getting my NCBs built up again I had a biggy: Rear puncture + 4x4 + field = Owch.
Had some non-faulters inbetween, but I don't count them as it didn't cost me (barring whiplash).

I have had two minor bumps since 1988, one when driving my brothers car, bloke anchored up in front of me going across a junction, no other cars about, no reason, just stopped dead ! Thats was about 5 years ago, my brother was in Peru, I emailed the pictures to his hotmail account, me and my dad repaired the faithful Rover 200 to fight another day, bought for a grand, ran for 4 years 70,000 miles, sold to my cousin another 2 years and 20 k then sold on and never missed a beat even when passing 140,000 miles.
Last year, reversed wifes Galaxy out, pitch black, looked in the mirror, nothing there, crunch, black shed of a Megane parked against the opposite neighbours huge oppresive conifer hedge so a combination of a lack of care on my part, tinted rear windows, a hedge, black car caused it. The Megane (T reg) cost £1200 to repair, doubt it was worth half that ?

I tend to go quite a long time without an accident considering I was doing 40K+ miles per year for quite a lot of the time:
20 years ago, Escort Xr3i on the M25 coming to a swift stop for a traffic jam and looking in my rear view mirror thinking "That car isn't going to stop..". I wasn't happy to be correct. Company car luckily.
15 years ago, Corrado VR6, driving swiftly across the forest one late evening and ended up facing the other direction having lost it somehow. I'm still not sure. The insurance form said I avoided a deer (quite plausable) with a lovely drawing of said deer. Another company car.
9 years ago, driving in Poland, got lost, was driving on a single track road and smashed straight into another car at about 40 mph. No-one was hurt, rental Fiesta a write off with the bonnet coming through the windscreen. Mental note not to ever buy a Fiesta.
Two months ago, some old person went into the back of me. No damage really, just light scuffing on the bumper.

Well, some d1ckhead in a blue van tried really hard to take me out this afternoon and some fool in a lorry, who seemingly can't read road signs, managed to just about block the low bridge on my way home making it crashtastically fun having to blindly creep round it with the fear of oncoming traffic speeding into me.
I blame this thread for the negative karma

2001 - rolled a 205 1.9 GTi on a country road. Some residents of a local farm heard the bang, and came out. Guy's first words were "1.6 or 1.9?" I responded with "was a 1.9!"
Have been in a couple of other accidents as well, but only pile-ups.

I'm all good so far.
But one of my favourite memories has got to be three herberts in an old Escort at the opposite bus stop to me, sounding horn, being abusive and crude to the schoolgirls at the bus stop (yeah it's a few years back now). Only after the guy had finished and decided to dump the clutch at a few thousand revs, plowed straight into the back of a bus that'd stopped in front of him.
I laughed like a drain. I still do at the thought. So did a bus stop full of school kids of all ages. Oooh the shame Mr Escort driver and friends.

Accident.
1989....
In my Toyota Lite-Ace van following about 200yds behind a guy in a Vauxhall Carlton approaching some traffic lights to turn right.
Guy in front sails straight through the red light and I'm thinking what a ****!!
Got near the lights and touched the brakes and that was it absolutely no grip.
Ran straight in the back of him!! He wasn't a happy chappie as he had only picked his brand new Carlton up about 3 hrs earlier!!
I hit him so hard that the left hand door overlaped the bodywork by 6 inches and the drivers door had a 6 inch gap between the back of the door and the door pillar. Still drove it home though holding the door shut!!
Thought it was a write off for sure but they fixed it.
Come close since but luck has been with me.
Dave.

One of the funniest i've had, was a few summers ago.
Nice warm day, off to work outside, in the firms toyota crew cab pick up, shorts on as well. Behind a brand spanking new Passat and we are stopped at lights.
Phone went and i was smoking, grabbed the phone and knocked the end off the *** and it hit my thigh and up my shorts. I could feel my ******* warming up very quickly.
Jump out of the truck, handbrake on but in 1st. the damn thing mounted the Passat about 4 times while I was running around trying to put my ***** out.
The rep jumped out and started screaming like a girl, I shouted back, not my F*cking problem, I'm not even driving.
I lost a bumper and a bit of roll bar damage, his boot ,rear window and roof were badly damage. Tell you what though, if I never turned it off it was going over the top of the car.....Smoking can seriously damage your health..

I don't think those Corrados were quite as good as people now think they were.

going back to the 80's put a fiat uno on it's roof.
actually tried to roll it back onto its wheels to drive it home.
ah to be 16 again.
and no it wasn't nicked.
we just shouldn't have been in it.
come to think of it my best mate drove his mothers brand new lancia delta integrale all the way down the side of the garage attempting to drive it, on the drive.
