Lily Allen - Not Fair Lyrics
Has anyone else got young children who sing along to this?
Or even worse, have asked what certain parts of the lyrics mean?
"Mum, why doesn't he make her scream?"

Isn't there a song that goes
"its my sh*t, its my sh*t"
Wrong but very amusing hearing a 5 year old singing away to that little number.
My 7 year old likes that Radiohead song but just gives my a cheeky grin when he sings
"Your so f*cking special"
The Lily Allen song would be turned off - saves the questions. I find her music OK but the "too cool for school" attitude is trying too hard IMO.

I don't have a son and it wasn't my child singing that song.
My daughter knows not to swear and doesn't when she hears swear words in songs.
I would turn off the Lily Allen song on the basis that swearing is swearing and easily explained. Explaining to a child that the song is about a girl complaining that her boyfriend comes too quickly and doesn't get her squirting all over the bed sheets isn't something I would enjoy. Trying to push the bounderies of taste to sell records.
One of my daughters favorite songs is One by One by the Foo Fighters.

The problem (for me) is that the radio obviously has edits, so I naively downloaded the 'real' version of that and her previous song and was quite shocked to hear swearing all the way through.

aren't you glad your 11 year old daughter doesn't listen to Bodycount. KKK bitch has some nice lyrics.
Been all around the world, met this fine *** white girl
big ****, fine *** and thighs, kinda looks that would knock out most guys
Well she got wild in the back stage bathroom
sucked my d1ck like a muthf**kin vacuum
she said i love you, but my daddy don't play
he's the fcukin grand wizard of the KKK
Songs in a similar vain, all 18 tracks.
I blame the parents

If so called entertainers have to use that kind of language, either in songs or in dialogue, it shows their deep limitations when it comes to self expression.
Its nothing to be proud about and to hear young children using that kind of language is the bitter end I reckon.

Going back to Lilly Allen. I don't think its a good message to young children who pick up on this sort of thing.. but its down to the radio station to decide whether its appropiate to air or not.

The worst song of recent times for me was "Make Love in this Club". Seriously, I'm not easily offended but I hate the thought that our teenage girls are getting the message that it's OK or expected of them to have sex with some random bloke in a club with people watching.
Am I getting old?
And Ice T was indeed in Bodycount. Awesome album, but not one to put on while your kids are listening.

Well, from her album 'It’s Not Me, It’s You’ is this gem...
**** You Very Much lyrics
Songwriters:Allen, Lily Rose; Kurstin, Gregory
Look inside, look inside your tiny mind
Then look a bit harder
'Cause we're so uninspired, so sick and tired
Of all the hatred you harbor
So you say it's not okay to be gay
Well, I think you're just evil
You're just some racist who can't tie my laces
Your point of view is medieval
**** you, **** you very, very much
'Cause we hate what you do
And we hate your whole crew
So please don't stay in touch
**** you, **** you very, very much
'Cause your words don't translate
And it's getting quite late
So please don't stay in touch
Do you get, do you get a little kick
Out of being small minded?
You want to be like your father
It's approval you're after
Well, that's not how you find it
Do you, do you really enjoy
Living a life that's so hateful?
'Cause there's a hole where your soul should be
You're losing control a bit
And it's really distasteful
**** you, **** you very, very much
'Cause we hate what you do
And we hate your whole crew
So please don't stay in touch
**** you, **** you very, very much
'Cause your words don't translate
And it's getting quite late
So please don't stay in touch
**** you, **** you, **** you
**** you, **** you, **** you
**** you
You say you think we need to go to war
Well, you're already in one
'Cause it's people like you that need to get slew
No one wants your opinion
**** you, **** you very, very much
'Cause we hate what you do
And we hate your whole crew
So please don't stay in touch
**** you, **** you very, very much
'Cause your words don't translate
And it's getting quite late
So please don't stay in touch
**** you, **** you, **** you
**** you, **** you, **** you
My daughter (10) has the album but she won't singalong with her dad to the chorus on this one lol...

In which case, this sums it up perfectly.

I think it was Usher actually...
Speaking of songs the kids might like but shouldn't be downloaded for the young ones...
Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name. Great political tune but a little bit naughty!
YouTube - RATM -Killing in the name - official video
There are a few other tunes that i can remember having some bad lyrics
Metallica (i think its a cover) So What springs to mind and Insane Clown Posse, Boogie Woogie Wu but only for the amusement value.
5t.

My mum trashed my one of my first 7" singles the day i bought it, Sex Pistols-Friggin' In The Riggin'
I don't think anything has really changed exept the fact that swear words are more widly used in this day and age. All parents want to protect their kids innosence.
The CD's, DVD's ect are marked as 18+ material and should be treated as such
Yes, we are getting older (and wiser)

I noticed on Youtube there is a video of her performing it on Ant & Decs Saturday night show and she left out a few key words during her performance.
I wonder if the producers/editors or whoever they are get nervous on a live show in case the artist doesn't miss out the right words?

There is a 10 - 30 second delay on live stuff so the editors can censor the broadcast.
Noticed TMF the other night removed all referances to drugs from the Nickleback song.

ewwwwww,
There have been some pretty horrible song lyrics going around for years.
I remember blushing to the roots when my Son starting singing "I'm Horny" when his Nan was visiting. He was only about 7 or 8

Thing is, it's up to parents what they allow their kids to see or hear like this.
You can't protect them for everything (especially while not with you), but I don't think you can get annoyed by artists making music, not really aimed at kids, as far as I know, their album will have an age restriction, so if people allow kids to listen to adult music, don't complain about the theme not being suitable.
If stuff is being played on the radio, at times when younger people may be listening, then that is for the station to review, complain if that is happening.
For as long as I remember, there have been songs put out there that will not necessarily be 'suitable' for children to listen to, it's nothing new.
Saying all this, I'm speaking generally here, as I haven't heard her song yet.
