Been offered a 6% Payrise ...

The Unions are concerned that low performers are only being offered around 1% ... they want an across the board rise - but, not many places are doing those these days - they want you to deliver.

I got a 0% pay rise.
******* Unions should realise they get no support from the general public for this. They were up in arms not so long ago because for the first time (before the credit crunch) that the private sector pay rises had been greater than the public sector.
Plus the public sector get final salary pensions. Me? I'll end up with fcukall when I retire.

How do you feel about that Pete? Is it right to reward those that deliver without rewarding those who do not?
Personaly, 0% this year along with the rest of my organisation but last year's payrise was significant so it more than makes up for this year.

I love the use of terms like "the unions" as though they are all after exactly the same thing and have the same ways of operating
Can't see how any union would just turn down a 6% payrise for it's members, without there being a pretty damned good reason, generally. Sounds like the important facts about this have been missed out on purpose
Which unions are you all talking about anyway, out of curiosity?

Me personally, I thank god I'm in my Union, as I've had hours of free legal advice re. my situation with previous employers, not to mention excellent representation in the best part of 20 meetings/disciplinaries/capability hearings, again with said previous employers. I'd rather have that help than not.
6% sounds good though, where do I sign.
On my apprenticeship I get approximately a 120% payrise after year one - may moan at my Union that it's simply not enough (oh wait, I will be the Union)

I got 0% rise and then made redundant lol hmm seems to work for them.
I find it hard to believe that a union or anyone would turn down 6% increases in the current climate.

Unions
Perhaps if we belonged to one here then something may be done about this years pay reviews but then if we were in one then we probably wouldn't have a job.
Pay rise is supposed to take effect as of 1 March and will be backdated accordingly, only problem is they've still failed to tell us what we may or may not be getting this year. If it is 0% then I just don't understand why they can't get on with it and tell us. Only problem I guess is that it will **** people of, then we'll all start working our contracted hours only, so loss of productivity for them

Take the negotiator and shoot him instead, lol, unless there is more to this than has been said

The Unions would like to see an across the board rise for every single employee ..... ie. no performance element to it. If you do not perform, the Unions suggestion is an attractive offer - if you deliver the goods and perform then it is not a good suggestion at all.

You just cannot accept that some people make a great success of their chosen career, can you? I can only assume that it is jealousy as you couldn't hold your job down?
