I've managed to get both my lads to stop the "gift" malarkey. Christmas, birthday, father's day: neither of them can afford anything I'd REALLY want, so why make them part with dosh for the sake?
I'm happy with a card on birthday and father's day, and a hug at Christmas.

I'm off to the Pod. Hopefully on my own! You should at least be allowed this one day per year off from your parental duties!

I'd like to think I'll get left alone to watch the F1 for the day but somehow I suspect that I'll have to spend Father's Day visiting my dad and the dad-in-law. Still, given STI's post above, perhaps I shouldn't take them for granted, eh?

Sounds like an excellent idea. Anyway Father's Day is just another one of those celebration days dreamt up by American greeting card companies to sell more cards. My kids (if I ever have any) will be under strict instructions to not waste their (or my) money on Father's Day cards or presents

I miss my Dad something chronic Know how you feel.
I will make sure the kids buy something special for his nibs, but I will miss getting something for mine. I refuse to buy for the FIL, I can't stand him
Have a great day, Scoobynet Dads
