Warning: Watch thread/Review.. FCXII
Have you ever re-discovered something you have overlooked for a long time ?
I have just mooched around in my safe and stuffed at the back I found this beasty.
I checked its time against Exact time now! and it was bang on, its not been on my wrist for over 12 months, in fact it must have gone past GMT+1HR and GMT-1HR.
Chase-Durer Trident FCXII.
Specs..
SWISS MADE, 27 jewel precision ETA 251.242 quartz alarm chronograph.
Features 1/10th second, 60 seconds and 30 minutes elapsed time; lap time, split time & fly-back simultaneous 2nd timing.
Comfort contour fit case and bracelet in brushed 316L stainless steel.
Screw-locked crown, with 4 flush-fit square control pushers.
Screw-locked, hi-raised detailed embossed solid Satinless steel back.
Soft/smooth slide bi-directional E6B navigational slide rule bezel for calculation of speed, distance and fuel consumption.
5 step linear motors.
Super-LumiNova advanced illumination system on hands, numbers & indexes.
Sapphire scratch-resistant crystals X3.
Original design-registered bracelet with 2 separate individually controlled built-in analog watches and secured with a double security deployment buckle.
Water resistant to 330ft/100m.
Diameter 42mm, thickness 15.5mm, weight 6.5 oz.
Limited edition of 999 and serial numbered.
A big watch, extremely rugged, and well put together, it has a contoured curved shape to the UTC's case and each link is curved to suit.
The bezel is super smooth and has no ratchet, it almost feels like a new greased bearing.
The SuperLuminova is bright and long lasting, it is far better than the FCXI which I also have.
The case back engraving/emboss is up there with ***** works of art.
The main differances from the FCXI to the FCXII is the SuperLuminova on the 12/4 and 8, the finger colour contast, and the UTC's are redesigned with easier to read fingers and they also have flat crystal lenses rather than convex ones.
The push buttons are flush shiney chrome rather than the brushed on the FCX1 also the bezel is shiney chrome too.
The clasp has also been re-vamped on the FCXII with a two finger pusher opening system on its double locking clasp.
My only gripe would be that the screw down crown is not protected by any lugs on the case, so it is vunerable to knocks and bangs, and seems quite "out in the open".
I bought my FCXI for $1295 all in, and the dollar was poor against the pound, and I bought the FCXII for $1495 again when the dollar was almost half to the pound.
So I think I have made two excellent purchases at about £750 each.
I would recommend this model to anyone who wants a big, rugged, well made, super accurate Quartz tool watch.
Has EastEnder finished yet ?
Later Yoza.

The DogsDinner said: Wow,another watch thread.
You were warned in the title, I did give you a chance to ignore.
Q: Does it make a nice " tick tick " sound ?
No, it is almost silent as the case and crystal is so thick.

Trident Black
Still @ $1595 but was half price by the looks of it up until today, Fathers day special.
Which today equates to £965.50 plus P&P plus import duty......surely this wasnt in the 50% off deal.

That's gotta be worth a look, I'm waiting for the wife to bugger off so I can get on the phone and see what the deal is.
I've got no clue about decent watches, I wear a half decent Tag and have for years, this is my second and I wear it everyday and it gets battered, but has been reliable.
Do you think these will last at least as long as a modern Tag and what's the movement like, some kind of generic?

I have had the FCX1 for 8 years, its a bit bashed but works perfect, all functions run, and all fixings are still sturdy.
Its had 3 main batteries, and two pairs of UTC batteries.
Wouldnt bother with the post unless I rated them..
If they were rubbish I would say they were rubbish.
The FCX2 I have have for about 2 years I think, no probs with that either.

I meant to ask if the strap is as chunky as it looks? I don't want the thing falling off the first time it gets snagged on something.
I have to ask a few questions as I know a some dodgy scousers and nothing would surprise me about them, they'd think nothing of setting up a genuine looking website, taking payment and then shipping out a parcel with a house brick inside.

Another bomb proof Chase-Durer from Pacenote.
If you fancy a punt at a "dead" but new black model, this will go for next to nothing, it needs a battery a seal....£5 from me, £85+ from Chase-Durer.
*NEW* CHASE DURER AIR COMBAT BOMBER COMMAND WATCH BLACK on eBay, also, Wristwatches, Watches, Jewelry Watches (end time 21-Jun-09 23:30:32 BST)

It was indeed down to you.
You told me a relative had bought this ugly looking watch that was not to your taste.
I bought it as soon as you posted it up.
That was the FCX1, I now have the FCX1 and 2.
Cheers.

Molko, sorry I thought you were taking the pee.
Read this, then I will dig my Ball's out and post a couple of pictures of them.
Grail Review: Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon Chronograp
I rave on Ball watches, and get a bit of stick for rambling on about them.
Whilst Nat is out and about I may get away with a full Ball watch review, I have a Ball hydrocarbon Engineer chrono, a Ball hydrocarbon Engineer chrono Trieste, and a Ball hydrocarbon Classicx II.
Pictures to follow after Ive done the dusting, dishes and ironing...
Later Yoza

I have dug this thread up to show you my new Trident FCXII, in the interest of colour equality, and for a watch I rate highly, I bought another.
Pictured in bed with his twin...
on his own...
Help yourself to some cheese....
What do you think of the white ?
A big sorry to all you anti-watch posters..
