Default Any designers/photoshop folk wanna tweak this?

Sort of a continuation of my other thread, where I asked about some DJ work.

Basically I went into the bar yesterday to speak with the manageress. All went well and I gave her 7 promo CD's to show the wide range which I can mix. She seemed quite interested, so I threw a couple ideas at her re. an Ibiza themed night. Maybe something for those going to Ibiza, have been and come back, or just want that kind of atmosphere in a bar.

So I got thinking earlier when I wok up and have just come up with this...

I don't have photoshop, only basics like photo suite which is crap, even when exploited.

Could I ask anyone who maybe has an interest/talent in poster design to maybe tweak it a little. Would be good to go in with an actual poster design (when she's listened to my mixes and given me the go ahead).

This is the original picture I used and cropped for the background...

If anyone has the time or is bored and good at this sort of thing, it would be much appreciated and could send you some choons for your time perhaps?

Ta

Andy

It was just a quick mock up really, and I didn't think it looked very professional, Les. Maybe thought someone who does it for a living could make it better looking, as I want to impress the bar manager with my enthuiasm.

Sods law that I haven't had a job for 10 months, then 2 (well one definite, one maybe) come along in 2 weeks

You can probably tell I'm quite excited as music is a passion of mine.

I really like it as it is. It would draw me in, as I am a big fan of that type of music. Even at my age

Well I've printed a copy off on some photo paper. I think I'll wait until she calls me next week after speaking with the owner, then have a chat face to face.

I think I've got a good chance as she mentioend her current Fri-Sat night DJ is getting complacent, i.e. playing the same choons, not really mixing properly etc. Don't get me wrong, he plays some blinders, but it's not really constructed to the trained ear like myself.

I genuinely feel I could do a better job, so hopefully may get a chance. I've had 7 years of practising to get it right, it's my turn

Aye, when I had a look at the set up, it's pretty much usual lcub standard...

2x Pioneer CDJ MKIII
Pioneer DJM 600 mixer

Only issue I may have is I've never used either... I've got a pair of Denon DNS 1000 CDJ's and a 4-channel Behringer DJX 700.

Just need to fathom the FX on the mixer and how to cue, skip etc on the CDJ's.

I did say if she was wanting in there, that I'd pop in one afternoon and go mental upstairs for a bit and learn my way round their equipment.

I'm just very used to what I have at the minute - wish I had the ££ for the Pioneer stuff.

Christ, thats one powerful ******

I usually just use a filter, flanger or echo in my sets, as thats what each of my current CDJ's have on each one. The FX on the Behringer mixer aren't great, theres about 75 variants I think, but the Pioneer has near enough infinitum of them

Just watching one on exploring the Pioneer CDJ's to familiarise myself.

Nothing wrong with it as it is COB. It looks good and attracts attention, gives the whole story and anything more added would not improve it all. What more would you need to know anyway?

Didn't wanna bother starting a new thread...

I tried to call the manageress today, but just rang, so left it.

I sent a text just saying I'd tried to call (as your relationship is quite informal) and just to ask what she/her duaghter thought of my mixes. She and her daughter loved them (the ones I've sent to members on here basically), and she thinks it's a real goer for me to start a night.

So I asked if she'd like to meet again soon, and she replied definitely as soon as she's got the ok from the bar owner who is a pretty cool guy apparently.

So fingers crossed I may get something during the summer regards DJ'ing and maybe on a weekend whilst at Corus.

Hope this more positive attitude is bringing me the opportunities I believe I deerve after all this sh*t of recent.

The only thing I could say about your poster is that she'd probably prefer to have the bars name as the predominant text rather than your name but that would be my only contructive (uninformed) comment cause I think you've done a cracking job there

Poster looks good, but I wouldn't cover the horizon - so you can see the hills in the backdrop.

Good luck, so where can I hear your demos?

Appreciate the feedback. Basically what I cropped up was the first thing to pop in my head whilst I was really enthusiastic and bubbling with ideas.

In comparison, the electro/trance night on this friday has this poster dotted around advertising it...
