I've made a 12v rectifier for my dirt bike from a few components I had lying around. Now I want to mount it in resin to stop vibration from knocking it all apart. What sort of resin do they use for this, and where can I get it?

Ummmm ... Electrical parts for motorcycles - regulator rectifiers generators stators ignition coils lighting coils ht & pulse coils cdi units starter motors rotors ..... ![Idea](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/idea.gif)
Yeah, I know. It's more *satisfying* making a rectifier out of an old washing up bottle and some sticky back plastic ....![Thumb](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif)

Won't fibreglass resin do the job, as in Halfrauds? I doubt that it will conduct electricity.
Silicone based sealant does though!

Les: hmm yes possibly. My only concern would be how it conducted heat. Having said that, we're talking about very little current.

PCBs are made of fibreglass anyway - it's not that bad a conductor of heat ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Potting compound is the stuff that's made for the purpose, as john_s says you should be able to get it from any electronics supplier. You might not need it, though, and it does render the circuit irreparable scrap if it ever goes wrong.
I'd start by making sure all the connectors use a positive latching mechanism and by putting star washers on any screws or nuts, then see how you get on. You might be able to fix the battery problem the same way - slightly longer screws + star washers.
