Has anyone seen the HSBC advert on channel 4 where the bloke is fishing from a boat and a chinese man in a boat puts a bird into the water which catches fish and he lifts the bird from the water with a pole.

Question is - is this real or something that has been cleverly 'cut up' or animated.

I think its a class advert.

The bird is a cormorant, and yes, its a traditional fishing method out there.

I have been fishing with a bird. They always say they get bored and feel cold on even the hottest days. Except when it is really hot when they say it is too hot.

And then we have to go early because they need a wee and refuse to go behind the tree like any decent man would do!

Yup, usually they have wire tied round their throat to stop them swallowing the fish

Some may say thats cruel, but the bird is still happy to swim alongside the fishermen.

It has been going on since time immemorial. As was said they have a constriction on their necks to prevent them from being able to swallow a fish. It is not so tight as to be unpleasant to the bird however.
