........crappy?
Or even the last few summers?
Apart from the Global warming nonsense, who thinks that there is another reason for it?
I have a couple facts that could prove my theory correct (at least in part).
Would be interesting to hear your views.

I agree with your idea, in part because we do not control the weather and there may be a very bigger picture that involves weather patterns, that we do not know of.

No, you're all wrong, I'm sure that those nice people who peddle, sorry, talk about, global warming, told us that by 2010 or so, Britain would have a mediterranean climate and the med would be a desert.![Stick Out Tongue](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
So it must be warmer, and you all just aren't seeing it.![Ponder2](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/ponder2.gif)
In fact you are stupid eco terrorists for NOT seeing it

Its just the same as normal - a few hot days in a row, maybe a week at most then back to average temperatures with rain and the odd sunny day every now and again - I think we tend to look back on previous years and imagine that the week it was hot for went on all summer, and there was no rain.

A real pain - it started off so well too!
But one benefit - the surf was head and a half high and clean on Tuesday. That doesn't happen when it's hot and calm (usually)!!

Just before the summer started, the media (such as the BBC & Daily Mail) were warning of a long-hot summer, where we would be out barbecuing the corpses of expired elderly relatives every evening. This coincided with a dry couple of weeks, which led rise to June being declared the driest for 3 years (remember how incredibly wet the last 2 were!!!
).
As for the much reported heatwave that occurred during the second week of Wimbledon, I can confirm that much of the country missed out on that one. I had that week in South Devon on holiday: only a couple of days were nice with temperatures around 22°C and the TV weather map showed that the South East was 10°C hotter. Last week we were in Somerset and it barely breached 20°C with plenty of rain.
This week in Northamptonshire it has rained every day at some point and the 5 day forecast is for more rain everyday with temperatures of 16° - 20°C.
That's mid July for you.
The important factor seems to be our old friend the Gulf Stream. Apparently these previous long-range forecasts of hot dry weather were due to the fact that the GS had moved back up above the UK, which tends to leave us with fine weather. This week the BBC showed the Gulf Stream to have moved down below the UK which has left us with all this **** stuff just in time for the best part of summer.
Looks like 3 years of crap summers on the trot for us all then.

Our lawn was starting to get very brown but back to full greeness thanks to loads of rain.
Seems that we are copping some serious weather down here - almost monsoon-like at the moment.

Weather really doesn't bother me. Some people get quite depressed with bad weather. Doesn't interest me in the slightest. My bro lives in Gibraltar and theres no way I would put up with that heat. Its flippin oppressive!
Very hot days to me just mean uncomfortable in work and I can't go into my loft and play with my choo choos.
I don't mind bad weather at all.

There's basically a conveyor belt of lows lined up in the Atlantic with no sign of a break for the foreseeable future. Oh well, at least it's not cold and the sea is now lovely and warm!
