Retirement Cars !!
I know it sounds bad but ....
I retire at 52 and to be honest that's not too far away.
I would like your thoughts to the attached cars without abuse !
I am looking forward to Track Days and the odd Sunday blip, you will notice a certain Jaguar red herring but that's why I am asking for your help and for some fun on the forum.
Is this the best place for this thread ?
I hope the links work ....

Many people will disagree with me but I took a GT3 out last weekend on a track day and I was underwhelmed by it, and this is from a man who has wanted a Porsche sine he was 4!
There are a number of companies that upgrade old Jag's to have modern brakes, power steering etc. That were my money would go, a nice e type or a Marcus.

I so wanted to add the GTR but I am a little put off by it's specialist nature/costs.

Like I say, maybe the track was not suited to the GT3, maybe I just dont drive very well but it felt a bit every day to me and I wanted it to feel special.
Of course if I was super rich I would throw one in the garage just for to own one.

OK not all out retirement but a few spare pennies for a Toy :- )
Ultima would have to be 550 - 650 BHP but I am trying to think how often the chosen car would be used.
I think wearing motorbike kit with an Atom or R500 and saying sod it to the british weather may outweigh the practicalities of an Ultima and the odd speed bump.
The Gt3 well its probably just perfect and expensive when things go bang.
Oh but the E-Type no speed not practical no real track day fun but you would sleep in the garage with it !

Lister Le Mans ( XJS shape ) 7.0ltr V12, 550bhp + 581ft Ibs of torque.Probably can get another 100-150bhp out of it, with the right cams and Zytek doing the remap etc.5 speed manual 7 series gearbox in it.No traction control or electrically adjusable suspension so a real handful in the wet.

S3 is smooooooth and a pleasure to drive, shape of the soft top isn't much different to the S1, i'd def have a S3 V12 soft top over the S1 but rather a lighter S1 Coupe than S3 Coupe.
I've driven them extensively if you want to know anything particular about them....

I'd go for a Jag saloon, say a 4 litre sport, and get it converted to LPG. Dirt cheap at the moment and you end up with a fastish car which returns the equivalent of 40 mpg. If it's old enough you can get classic car insurance.
If you can afford it get a summer toy that won't depreciate in value. My choice was a replica 1934 Jaguar SS100.

I hung on to my T25 when I retired last year. I hardly use it now, and I do find myself wonfdering about getting a 7 or something similar. Problem is I can't have both as I have room for only 1 garage
