Question Quick eBay Question Re:Postage

I have just sold something on eBay. It is fairly bulky/heavy so I got postage priced up before I listed the auction. It was going to be £25 to post in the UK.

Auction ends and the winning bidder is from Isle of Wight...so I get it priced up again and it is going to be £40 to post.

I am not to £15, but for the sake of an e mail I thought I'd ask him for the difference. I got a snotty reply along the lines that he wasn't very happy about paying anymore postage blah blah blah...

So who is right, who is wrong ?

I think Isle of Wight is technically UK so he is probably wight

Although I do see some ebay adds state channel Islands will be more. Surely living there he would have come across this postage issue before?

Can't you send it C/o his nearest post office in Portsmouth. Most who work leave the island at some point in the week !

I agree with Chop.
Being out there, usually you would expect them to contact you before bidding to confirm postage.

Not happy, and not willing are different though. Just tell him sadly thats the cost, but check what you had as areas to post to carefully incase he claims.

Royal mail and parcel force class it as uk, so the price is the same. You just have to put a customs lable on.

Yeah, my folks are on the IoW and often have to pay more P&P. I'm off to see them on Thurs, pity it's such short notice or you could have sent to me and I'd have dropped it off - it's only a small place.

Just thought: I sell books and when I have to send a package to the IoW it is no more expensive than the mainland if sent by Standard Parcels. You can enter the weight into the PO website:

http://sg.royalmail.com/portal/rm/Pr...ar=pricingcalc

The Channel Islands are described as overseas but not the Isle of Wight (well it isn't on the drop down list).

Every courier company bar Parcel Force will hit you with a surcharge for "off shore".

Royal Mail/Parcel Force are the only ones that class it as UK, same as northern Ireland/Scotland.
