That's Decent!
Instead of taking all the MP's holiday off, Brown will be doing some free community work, hats off to him!
A spokesman said: "The prime minister will be undertaking some community voluntary work during his time in his constituency.
"For obvious reasons he has agreed with the organisations concerned that any work he does will be private."
No 10 had been reluctant to confirm this for fear it might be seen as a publicity stunt.

same old, same old
So, old timer, you must know a bit about 50s music - what did you do your 'courting' to back in those days when you were a teenager,
I bet you must have loads of musical magic to share,?

It must be nice to be so financially secure in this climate to be able to take time off work, let alone do some volunteer work. If you think he's doing this because he's a decent chap then you need to get a grip on reality. And this is a laugh: "No 10 had been reluctant to confirm this for fear it might be seen as a publicity stunt.". I can just imagine the spin meeting.
GB: Ahhh niiice, a whole month off at the expense of the tax payers.
Spin Doctor (SD): This could be bad Flash, people dont like to see you having it so easy.
GB: Hmm, yeah good point. I need to make the sheep think I'm getting this country out of the dog doo.
SD: Why not keep working through your holiday this year?
GB: F off! I worked hard for this job, being Tony's b*tch, I'm going to take everything that due to me!
SD: Ok, how about just giving a little back to the community, make you look like you care.
GB: Great idea! I'll not tell the press so it'll look legit, but someone will leak it for me anyway, we'll get some good spin on that with the sheep.
SD: Spin ftw!
Can you imagine what taking a whole month off would have done for his public image. Mind you, it'd be nice to have even the other three weeks off, unlike a lot of the country that will be working without a break, all year to save their own bacon in this screwed up economy.

Lots of MPs work with their constituencies druing the summer break. Its hardly something new or anything to get excited about.
Parliament may be "closed" but they are still employed to do a job.
Total spin, and not worthy of any of Pete's nonsense.
If the spokesman had, however, said "The PM will be undertaking various community projects during the summer break as he, and many other MP's, do every year" then I might have given the fat, oneyed, arrogant, ***** some credit.

I am not his biggest fan but I dont see the problem, you wouldnt have batted an eyelid if he p1ssed off on holiday, ok it may be contrived but it may set an example to the feckless, lazy and selfish in this country of which there are a lot.

Well, you are a cynical lot .... the PM decides to do some work in the Community and he gets slagged off.
I think your attentions should be aimed at the worthless, scumbag, underclass of this country ... the pondlife of which there are many.
You should not be spitting venom at the very man who has saved us from a depression! The history books may even show that he, and his actions, saved the western world from collapse! He needs some respect. That said, I will not vote Labour!

I think you have to agree that NL has been the worst thing that has happened to this country and has also destroyed Old Labour who at least used to have some regard for the people of this country, even if they were incompetent when it came to the economy.
With this lot we have the incompetence as mentioned above as well as the gross dishonesty shown in just about any governmental initiative.
They have used the people of this country and are preparing to hand us over to the Eu lock stock and barrel once again for their own selfish purposes.
Say what you like about the opposition, I still hold that they are the only ones with the ability to rebuild the economy as they have done repeatedly in the past, as painful as that is surely going to be.

Why?
Because they went back on a Tory promise to safeguard my Pension, you would have thought that Labour would have looked after the working man - but no, they stabbed us in the back and it is costing me £1,000's ........ that's why I will never vote Labour again.
I am also old enough to remember the Tory 'Don't Care' Party in power - if you want an "I'm alright Jack" Party the Tories are your outfit ...... and they haven't changed their spots!!
Sadly, that's about the only offerings ... and both parties are pathetic, lying *****!

Pete may have (inadvertantly) hit another nail on the head by saying
and then saying
Who do most people think that Labour support? The ordinary working man, or the pondlife?
