Here at our French property, we have around 2000 sq m of land. Now that's not a great deal, in the scheme of things, but it's surrounded by VERY old hedges, with trees over 20 feet high, and she has INSISTED on putting in shrubs, raspberries, currants, gooseberries etc etc etc ad infinitum, where there AREN'T any hedges![Sleep](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/sleep.gif)
Anyway, what we now have is a breeding ground for nettles. Not just any old nettles, but 6 foot, multi-stemmed, multi-branched utter B@stards of nettles, with a sting like a fekkin electric shock.![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
So today, I've been "dealing" with them. I've cut them down with shears. They fall ON me and sting my face and neck
They NEVER fall AWAY from me![Confused](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/confused.gif)
I've tried pulling them out with leather gardening gloves on my hands. They brush my forearms and sting me again.![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
I've cut them in half, then off at the base to avoid them falling on me. Bits of them have gone down inside the gauntlet of the gloves and stung me repeatedly![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)

I even found part of a leaf lodged INSIDE my watch strap, still stinging me ten minutes later.
Result? Yep, they are all down and fed to next door's chickens, who seem to love them, but my face, neck and arms are literally COVERED in fekkin nettle rash.
And, of course, I DON'T have any anti-histamine, so I think a few brandies might be needed to help me sleep. Plus as a reward![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Tomorrow I paint the bedroom shutters again![Brickwall](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/brickwall.gif)

Anyone recall Dirty Sanchez when the 3 Welshers rolled nude in nettles for a protracted period.
One remarked afterwards that this was the worst thing he had ever experienced, and this coming from a man who had had his bell end practically nailed to a piece of two by two.
Wonder what happened to them since the tv work dried up?

having been doing this on a part of our garden for 4 years, my advice is you'll only be rid of them if you dig ALL of the roots up (yellowy spread out buggers, think strawberry runners), and keep digging every time you spot one of the ******* growing until you break them. then plant and cover in wood chips / bark or whatever to keep them down.
good luck!

I have the same problem.
A decent boiler suit, boots, gloves, face mask and a petrol strimmer takes care of them, no matter how high they get.
I need to do it either on an overcast day or very early AM to avoid the heat though.

Can't you borrow a goat or something. I thought they ate anything?
I had similar on a big pad we had and bought a petrol strimmer. In fact one with blades as well. As said a decent jacket and gloves should work. But to do the job properly you need to dig up roots.
Of if you are not in a rush lay some old tarpaulins over the nettles and they will die down. dl
