Amazing run. he even had a quick look about at the end. He thinks 9.4 is in his grasp they said on the BBC. well done to the Sheffield lass as well.

nah he'd pass out through loss of blood
As for under 9 seconds... I doubt it will be seen for year if ever but at the current rate the WR is dropping it could be done in the next 50.

lol did he slow down at the end again? Moonwalked over the line this time ? lol
Insane Ussain!
I reckon if his sponsors offer an M5 for a sub 9 he will hit it before the year is up lol.

I reckon he will get below 9.50 before he retires. Buy his own admission his starts aren't the best. If he can improve those, then it's on.
The guy is phenomenal.

The thing is he's knocked .9 off the previous record, which in sprinting terms is a lot, so i think him getting under 9.5 is attainable, especially as he's only 22. Sprinters only start to peak at about 25, so in theory there's more to come.

Always makes me wonder, when will the ultimate time be achieved. There must be a point that cannot be beaten.
Is it evolution? or just damn hard work and training....

it's like drag racing. law of diminishing returns. chasing those thousandths of a second will take a helluva lot of work. if he is prepared to take the risk of using performance enhancing drugs like ben johnston then maybe it might happen.

oh i agree a 9.5 will be done fairly soon but the OP is talking about a 9 second 100m run. A much more challenging target. can't see it in my life time but then so many pundits can be wrong. he is still pretty young as a spinter and with a lot more training and maturity who knows what can happen. bit like rodney marsh and mat le tissier laughing their ***** off at george best when he said it would not be long until we see the first £100k a week player.

Yes your right it's .09, .9 and he would have been in the 8 second bracket
I remember reading an article about how fast a man could physicaly run and I'm sure it was around the 9.4 mark, but this was when the WR was around 9.8 give or take a tenth. Personally I think he could get into th 9.4's more so if he had more competion to push him. Amazing athelete

The guy is all over the papers today and still he's being called Ussain? I give up.
Phenomenal time though. Looks like he could smash the 200m record too if he wanted.
C'mon RonJ, you are right, you're right. Pleeeeze, just for me.

9.51 they reckon is the next big barrier using fairly unsophisticated standard deviation analysis, and beyond that, 9.21. I reckon Bolt is good enough, if he stays focused and healthy, to get through 9.50, but it almost seems impossible that a human could ever move faster than this man over 100m.
200m tonight, hoping to see another record-smashing display.

I'm looking forward to the 200, that was my event when I used to compeat, though I was quicker over 100.
If he does break the 200 record, i don't think it will be by much, but you never know
