Hi all, can anyone recommend me a decent online stockbroker? I'm currently using Barclays but the site is so slow it's unreal: obviously due to high trading volumes, but it shouldn't be like that.

All I'm looking for is a simple trading service where I pay a fixed rate of commission with no hidden charges. So far I'm considering Selftrade as they seem to offer this service.

Any opinions?

I was using Hoodless Brenan but they've stopped running their trading accounts and moved me over to TDWaterhouse. The site seems fairly fast and functional but it took me 15 minutes to get an answer on the phone earlier.

I guess it's too early to give you a better informed opinion.

How do these two websites cope early in the morning? Should I expect to have problems with any broker at that time?

Can they handle the trading volumes without slowing down to a standstill? Barclays isn't very useful around that time.

Ah right. To be honest i've never tested Waterhouse at rush hour, but i can't see anything onlice citing this as a weakness of theirs. Give them a call though, see if they offer any guarantees of execution time if that's important to you.
