Slightly BETTER news from my holiday.
The bad news being that my beloved Scoob is dead............probable oil pump failure leading to a terminal case of engine failure, bottom end damage
Anyway, the better news is that in the almost EXACTLY 4 weeks I've been away, I've lost 12 lbs.............no diet, no massive amounts of excercise, just proper meals, the usual amount of alcohol , and NO snacking between meals.
Wonder if I can keep it up?

Never seen a dead Impreza oil pump; ever. (failed pump meaning damaged and screwed up gears and casing or broken woodruff keyway), worn ones, yes, failed never.
However, failed/sticking pressure relief valves and loose pump cover plates on the other hand are a plenty. I suppose lot of poeple call those components as part and parcel of the pump (and maybe I should debate that in the technical forums against people claming to have "failed" pumps, but meh, I have better things to do and this is NSR so I can spout that opinion and not have to bother justifying it, so nerr ) .
On the subject of f**ked up cars, My VW is going back in for more warranty work, or to be more exact; to fix the other 50% of problems they said they fixed but clearly have not, as it was evident after driving 200 yards.
Bill has gone past £4000 and counting (glad I'm not paying )
And once again, like all dealerships, they overfilled the sump with oil. FFS how hard is it to fill an engine with the correct amount of oil, do they ever use the dipstick?
Then the BMW has the annoying habit of refusing to start first time when hot.
And the other BMW was found to have blown a hole in the oil filter when I serviced it (filter paper in the big ends? I hope not ), and it has a cold start misfire.
Meanwhile the Jag, is being the Jag and radomly spluttering to a halt whenever it feels like, and generally being gutless (needs the injectors flow testing ).
Cars eh? Who'd 'av 'em?
(Ps. Condolances on you eng-end Tanya )

You will be losing a lot more than 12 pounds, if you are thinking of repairing your Subaru.
Hard luck........and well done on the weight loss.
Keep smiling, its only money.......little pieces of paper.
