50 million lost.

Why did Japan get involved (Pearl Harbour)?

Well done the UK - we mustn't forget them.

Re Japan - it was oil and petrolium based products, rubber, etc as one of the main reasons.

lot of people say the US won the war but back in '39 and '40 we stood pretty much alone against the Germans and held out, if we had lost then the US would have lost an tough allie and also pretty much the only place to stage a fight back against the Germans.

Let's not forget the couragous commonwealth troops who fough alongside us as well

my dad was telling my kids how he was evacuated in the war, from hulme in manchester(near docks) to preston, mum went to middlewich.

she liked her time there but my dad and his brother got quite badly treated,
they got all the scraps off her own kids plate, chucked out what ever the weather and beaten, my nana found out where they were what was going on and flew up there and bashed the woman.

he can remember barrage balloons in his street etc, and collecting shrapnel.

infacr his school was blown up just a few doors from their house, amazing times really.

Civilian life during the war would not have been very pleasant, especially if you were in the areas that the Krauts kept on bombing. Not many luxuries around either.

the school was built on an old graveyard at the explosion brought all the bones up to the surface.

the paretns got up in the night so and moved what they could but the kids could stilll see them.
